I had the L-2000 Series e back in the 80's and was looking to replace it. That was the best bass I've ever played....until now. This instrument turned out to be much, much more then I anticipated. The tonal range is massive and colorful. I bought the used one because the new one kept getting pushed back and was pleasantly surprised that the only damage was on the case. I am very happy with this purchase. Thanks.

This bass is a joy to play. I've played quite a few stringed instruments over the years, and I think this one may be the finest. I have had many different musicians come up to me during gigs and comment on how great this bass sounds. I live far from any music stores and bought this bass without ever playing it. My only guide was these reviews. The reviews are right on. I am completely pleased with the L-2000. The tone is incredible! This baby can even growl. I can't say enough good things about this instrument.
The array of sounds that are available is incredible. I can dial in anything from a P-bass to the most wicked slap/ pop funk sounds. The switches can be a little intimidating at first, but it didn't take long to get everything down. I now change sounds in the middle of a song and barely miss a beat. Extra large strap buttons are very secure.
This is a finely crafted and beautiful instrument. The set up right out of the box was perfect. Controls are smooth and quiet. The only flaw was some very minor surface scratches on the back of the bass. They were not serious enough for me to think about returning it.

This is a true professional instrument. It's a functional tool and a piece of craftsmenship which you will enjoy and value for years.
Top quality electronics and hardware. All of the sounds you'' ever need, but still has it's own identity.
Built like it was hand made in the Fender facotry back in the 50's - even better.
I think most instruments are way over-priced these days. But G&L gives you much more for your money than similar basses.

Myne is brand new U.S. Red Transparent purchased 10/2009. I was after Phil Lesh/Mike Gordon sound. They both use a Modulus bass, I know, but this is the closest sound I have found. Playing with a Pick gives you this 70's Phil Lesh sound. It can also sounds like a Rick while playing with a pick. Did I mention how great it works with Overdrive? Playing with fingers, gives this huge clear boom you can hear on first Phish album (When Mike Gordon actually recorded with a G&L).I use it for Jazz or Southern Rock Improvisation, 80's Gothic. I also have a US G&L 5 string which I use when I need a 5th. The 5 string is 12 years older and has a cleaner sound. This one is a bit dirtyer. I play Dead, Phish, MOE, Yes ans System of a Down with it.While active electronic was on, it was catching all EM signals and was buzing bad. The stuff they spray in the cavity does not do the trick. But after covering the electronic cavity with coper, it's dead quiet. It took me about 20 minutes to do the job.

I've owned mine for about a year now, and the beauty of this bass is that with new strings it sings all flavors of music with no problem. With old strings i just add the eq boost and this baby makes those strings sound almost new still. Besides that, if you just keep this bass set up right and learn to move her buttons to the way you like them, you wont find a bass that plays as well as this one. Period.

This was the first time I ventured into buying a high end bass. I was not disappointed. This is my favorite bass in the collection of 12. I play all of the basses but this is the one I keep coming back to. The action is tight and responsive. The sustain just rings forever. The preamp and tone controls give a range that is amazing. I use this bass for heavy metal and it growls. I also like slap and pop and it handles that equally well. The tuners are great and the bass holds it tune forever even with agressive playing. Love to say more but the urge to play just came over me.

I own this bass in fact a few L2000's they are very well made and very versatile, with a little switching and eq you can get about any sound that you can think up. My only dissatisfaction was no matching headstock color as shown in the picture on the order page, what's up ??? I thought about returning it but it does play and sound just fine.

I went into a guitar store to buy a backup jazz bass and I walked out with this G&L. I've been so impressed with these basses that i'm selling my jazz, precision and stingray so i can buy two more of these; a fretless and a 5-string. With 18 different tonal chioces, and active & passive pick-ups you can literally make this one bass sound like any fender or musicman; it sounds better too. Oh, and the neck feels better than any other bass that i've ever come into contact with. Doesn't matter if you're into metal, funk, jazz, indie, alt, ect... this bass can handle anything. Leo Fender may have invented the first bass, the most popular bass, and the first bass to feature active electronics, but he perfected the bass when he made this one. Try one out, you'll probably end up buying it; then sell your other basses because i guarentee they'll start to collect dust when you forget about them and store them in the closet.
