An impeccably crafted American-made bass
The SB-2 electric bass guitar is a high-quality rhythm-maker with a nice, sleek design with a deep cutaway on the lower horn for grooving along the lower frets. Wood-wise, it features an alder body and hard rock maple neck which creates nice even tones. To capture the beautiful tones that jump off the woods, it's equipped with G&L Magnetic Field split coil humbucking pickups in the center position with a G&L Magnetic Field single coil in the bridge position. A G&L Saddle-Lock bridge maintains resonance as you work your way through your favorite passages and transfers some of the string vibration energy directly to the core of the body for much better sustain. The SB2 bass guitar also features chrome hardware, a 3-ply pickguard, and custom G&L Ultra-Lite tuning keys with aluminum tapered string posts, and a G&L molded hardcase included.

Comments about G&L SB-2 Bass Guitar:
I've been a professional bassist for 20 years. I purchased this bass because I wanted a quality backup for my vintage P-bass, but didn't want to get just "another" P-bass.
After a proper, professional setup, I started using this bass on gigs and rehearsals. Low and behold, not only did it faithfully produce the sound of a good P-bass, it had BETTER presence in the upper register, killer tone in the low register, and is WAY more comfortable instrument to navigate and hold.
In the recording studio, I brought it along with my old P-bass and let the recording engineers decide which instrument sounds better. The G&L is now 3-0 vs. the P-bass.
Sorry, vintage Fender bass, but there is a new sherriff in town called the SB-2. Frankly, I don't know why more cats don't know about this instrument.
I go out of my way to find vintage flatwounds to put on my basses. Get a set, put them on, then take a tone journey back in time, but with an updated, modern instrument. The bass came with a set of roundwounds which sounded killer too (if thats the sound you're looking for). No regrets or complaints about this bass. Don't hesitate to pick one up.

I will be ordering another G & L bass soon want to try the JB2 amercian made.
I have owned so many basses I can't count them all. I was always looking for that certain sound and
there is no doubt I found it. G & L has put together a monster of a bass very simple electronics, 2 volume controls only which allow me to adjust everything from my amp or my GT10B. The tone is unbelievable with very slight adjustments to the volume controls you can get any sound your looking for.
When I opened the guitar case I couldn't believe my eyes, I bought the new black color which floored me, the binding and pickguard make this bass one of the best looking basses I have ever owned. This bass was flawless, I can't wait to play a gig with it, The neck is very fast, the body is more contoured than a jazz or precision bass, much nicer to hold and very balanced.
I have always liked Spector and Fender basses but G & L is know going at the top of the list, for the quality of this bass it should cost twice as much. I must say Leo and company have done a great job not only building a quality product but keeping it priced competitive.

My main recording bass. Simple, straight forward high quality instrument. Great sound. Very responsive to your input, easy to change tone with your fingers. Very easy to play, slim neck, fast with great fret work. Rock solid bridge with unreal sustain. I have the optional ash body on mine, I added Lane Poor PU's and a tone circuit. Sounds killer through an Ampeg all-tube setup.

The feel, the paint, the electronics, the overall cut of this amazing piece of art screams perfection...almost. If you treat this bass with respect and love it will return the favor 10 fold. Neglect it, and it will torment you. The sound gets 10 stars. The low end is so thick and rich it'll make you never want to put it down. However, this guitar does require maitenance (like most high end guitars do). Keep the maitenance up (which is about a tune up every year) and it will never let you down. I've owned this guitar for over 10 years and I still have 0 frett buzz, and the only thing that failed on it was a wire connecting to the volume pot around the 6th year. I wont use any other bass for recordings.

This bass guitar will give you a lot tone MORE than one might realize. One of the things I like is the simplicity of its electronics: 2 pickups - 2 volume controls. In my exp. you REALLY don't need much more. I set my tones on my AMP (SWR Working Pro 15 or Fender B-DEC) it's everythinh I want. I am not much on BASS EFFECTS so I won't go there, I'll leave that up to those who use them. I look at bass guitar as just that BASS GUITAR, a foundational instrument melodicaly holding down the foundation along with a tasty drummer. I don't think you'll be disappointed if purchase this instrument. Give it a spin and let me know what you think. Peace.
