OVERVIEW

A working musician's bass from the legendary genius of Leo Fender and G&L.

When Leo Fender launched the G&L L-2000 bass in 1980, it was clear he was ready to make history all over again. Never before had such a wide range of tones come from a single bass, and throughout its evolution the iconic L-2000 has continued to win the hearts of bassists of every style and musical taste.

The foundation of the L-2000 is a pair of G&L Magnetic Field Design humbuckers backed by the flexible Tri-Tone control system, providing the sort of versatility that'll let you find your tone no matter what kind of bass line you're laying down. The Tri-Tone system features a trio of mini toggles for pickup selection, series/parallel signal routing and active/passive operation, as well as a trio of knobs for volume, treble and bass. With all that under the hood, Leo gave the L-2000 the kind of chops that'll fit in any situation, from classic R&B to power-packed rock to poppin' funk. What's more, the L-2000 features an innovative Leo Fender-designed Saddle-Lock bridge to transfer string energy right into the body end-grain for an incredibly resonant instrument.

The Tribute Series L-2000 delivers the magic of Leo's revolutionary bass at a price attainable for every working musician.

Comments about G&L Tribute L2000 Electric Bass Guitar:

Overall this is a very nice bass, however the large neck makes it difficult to play for smaller hands. Play it BEFORE you buy it. The real frustration is that G&L makes several neck sizes, but they refuse to sell a replacement neck. Very poor customer relations. For this reason, I would not buy this bass, or any other G&L product again.

Follow up from 6/28 review. Nothing but positive comments. A kicking bass. I can get any sound I need. My band plays everything (disco, funk, rock, blues) Pick a sound you need. You can achieve it. Simply a pleasure to play. It's not my go to bass. It has become my only bass. A work horse instrument that can be subtle or melt your face.

    Great Service

Comments about G&L Tribute L2000 Electric Bass Guitar:

Kudos to Musicians Friend for the wonderful service I was provided. My first purchase was the L2000 with the tobacco sunburst finish. It arrived with no issues, but the color looked to close to another bass I have. I called MF and asked if I could exchange it for the blueburst finish. My request was handled without a problem. I will purchase from them again. Regarding the bass, I've had it a month. Made minor changes to setup and put flatwound strings on it (personal preference)The bass is very versatile and easy to play. Performs as advertised. A 4 star rating for now. I'll have more to say (good or bad) after I have it for a while. But for now I have to say this bass is worthy of meeting your mother.

Comments about G&L Tribute L2000 Electric Bass Guitar:

I just started playing bass a few months ago. I have a worn out neck fusion and have to give up the 6 strings.. this bass is awesome and also have a fender deluxe, this G&L blows it away.. the tone is great and has a lot of cool switches and stuff to experiment with. I think the neck is just wide enough and the bass is light weight. I would buy another in a second.

I really dig this bass. I traded mine for some other equipment, then ended up buying another one soon after, as I missed having it around. Lots of output, great bass for slapping, and has a killer humbucking growl. It's a fun axe for the price.

Comments about G&L Tribute L2000 Electric Bass Guitar:

Forgot to mention I play every kind of music from experimental, Jazz, Punk etc. The G&L Tribute L-2000 does it all no sweat, wish it had a better name though, L-2000 is pretty boring, it should be called the Grizzly or something like that, something that inspires awe, deep respect and great wonder.

Comments about G&L Tribute L2000 Electric Bass Guitar:

I absolutely LOVE this beautifully crafted beautiful looking bass guitar. The sound goes from sweet to wicked, anything you want, super versatility. I think mine has an alder body. It has a gorgeous three colour sunburst with a rosewood neck. All hardware and electronics are excellent. I bought mine used in mint condition so it's at least a few years young and I could not be happier!

Comments about G&L Tribute L2000 Electric Bass Guitar:

Only Bass I leave the House with. When I realized the Fenders were staying in the case I stopped even bringing one to the gig. L2000 is the Best bass I have ever owned.Sounds great Plays great. I Like the 1 3/4 nut width as it makes transition from upright to electric not so much of a shock to My left hand. I decided I needed a backup and I don't really enjoy playing the fenders anymore I just ordered a Tribute JB2. Same Three color sunburst and Maple fingerboard as My Tribute L2000. I think I'm gonna Love the twins.
