OVERVIEW

A fully loaded bass that's dynamic enough for any style from the legendary Leo Fender.

Three decades ago, the G&L L-2000 bass served notice that company founder Leo Fender was ready to disrupt the status quo. The bold, brash L-2000 has always been an exhilarating experience for players with the skill to pull it off. Now the new M-2000 and M-2500 harness that power with a sonic palate that will surprise and delight new and die-hard G&L fans alike.

The M-2000 GTB packs all the innovations of the M-2000 into a bass that's got a style all its own. With its Gloss White, black-bound carved basswood body and matching headstock, this bass has killer stage presence. But its sexy looks are just the beginning.

Leo's MFD humbuckers have always been the heart of the iconic L-Series. In the all-new M-Series, these powerhouses are voiced to fully exploit a studio-quality 18v preamp system specially designed by G&L's R&D wizard Paul Gagon. With an LF442 chip, 100v poly caps, 1% metal film resistors and big, fat signal traces on the mil-spec circuit board, this preamp reveals everything the player and the instrument have to offer.

And there's even more:
¢ Primary volume and pan controls to explore the full range of sounds available between the two pickups
¢ 3-band EQ with peripherally placed, center-detent, reduced-diameter knobs
¢ An impeccable, familiar "feel" of the instrument in the hands and on the shoulder
¢ The return of the classic "C"-shape 1 5/8" neck, discontinued by G&L in the 1980s

For slapping, rolling back some highs and dialing up some lows, coupled with a mid-range boost, magnifies the intensity that Leo's humbuckers are famous for. Need more definition for fingerstyle? Just bring up the treble and roll off the bass for a nuanced and detailed sound. Headroom? The new M-Series preamp harnesses the power of those meaty MFD humbuckers without a hint of clipping. The best tools are simple, intuitive and easy to use, and that's exactly what you'll find in the new M-Series package. Truly, it's the evolution of Leo's revolution. Comments about G&L Tribute M2000 GTB 4-String Electric Bass:

I have had many a bass guitar in my 18+ years of playing. I've played many makes, many price ranges and different tonal palettes. However, this one puts a lot of them out of their misery in a pretty comprehensive and affordable package. I can easily dial a Fender P-Bass tone out of the neck, Stingray-esque tones out of the bridge and some really hi-fi tones reminiscent of Wal, Aria Pro II SB1000 and Steinbergers with both pickups on. I'm a professional musician and play out with one of the bigger party bands in my city. This fits right in and can stand the rigors of our regular schedule. The only complaint I can say is that there was some slight buzz out of the box that I easily fixed with some adjustments and a brand new set of Elixir medium gauge strings (.45-1.05). I even put a Hipshot BT-7 (BT-1 will not work!) Bass Xtender on mine and really can handle that Drop-D! Magnificent instrument and also quite the looker. That White paint job really pops!!

Comments about G&L Tribute M2000 GTB 4-String Electric Bass:

This is a great sounding active bass that does not sound active unless you really boost the eq. Its got pickups that sound more natural than the ones in the L series. The contoured top is a nice touch and the white headstock looks great too. They really nailed this one. The fact that the price is great due to offshore factory is a bonus on top of a bonus.

Comments about G&L Tribute M2000 GTB 4-String Electric Bass:

This Tribute bass was beautifully made: really excellent fit and finish with a brilliant white paint job and black trim. Headstock white is on the front surface only. Satin neck is smaller than with the L2000 and very comfortable for a Fender Jazz Bass player. Retains the aggressive bite of the MFD pickups on the L2000 but with much better electronics for a player committed to active preamp tone. The instrument came quite well set up; however, the bridge pickup was too low to balance the neck pickup and needed to be raised. After a modest truss rod adjustment for light gauge Fender Nickel rounds (it shipped with medium D'Addario XLs) and some string height fiddling (locking the bridge which wasn't locked when shipped), it plays marvellously. This instrument is great value, especially at the sale price I got it for. No gig bag which was disappointing and the small Allen key supplied for adjusting string height and locking the bridge was the wrong size. The instrument is a bit on the heavy side but solid as a rock. Beautiful neck pocket and 6 bolt assembly. No noticeable neck dive despite substantial tuners. Highly recommended.
