    G&L

A fully loaded bass that's dynamic enough for any style from the legendary Leo Fender.

Three decades ago, the G&L L-2000 bass served notice that company founder Leo Fender† was ready to disrupt the status quo. The bold, brash L-2000 and the L-2500 five-string that followed have always been an exhilarating experience for players with the skill to pull it off. Now the new M-2000 and M-2500 harness that power with a sonic palate that will surprise and delight new and die-hard G&L fans alike.

Leo’s MFD humbuckers have always been the heart of the iconic L-Series. In the all-new M-Series, these powerhouses are voiced to fully exploit a studio-quality 18v preamp system specially designed by G&L’s R&D wizard Paul Gagon. With an LF442 chip, 100v poly caps, 1% metal film resistors and big, fat signal traces on the mil-spec circuit board, this preamp reveals everything the player and the instrument have to offer.

    And there’s even more:
    • Primary volume and pan controls to explore the full range of sounds available between the two pickups
    • 3-band EQ with peripherally placed, center-detent, reduced-diameter knobs
    • An impeccable, familiar “feel” of the instrument in the hands and on the shoulder

For slapping, rolling back some highs and dialing up some lows, coupled with a mid-range boost, magnifies the intensity that Leo’s humbuckers are famous for. Need more definition for fingerstyle? Just bring up the treble and roll off the bass for a nuanced and detailed sound. Headroom? The new M-Series preamp harnesses the power of those meaty MFD humbuckers without a hint of clipping. The best tools are simple, intuitive and easy to use, and that’s exactly what you’ll find in the new M-Series package.

Various styles and colors available. Please see drop down menu to choose.

Comments about G&L Tribute M2500 5-String Electric Bass:

Been playing guitar and bass in front of people for money since the age of 14, and now I'm 48, so this is not my first rodeo. Also, I'm a cheapskate, so price to quality ratio is huge to me, and I am NOT a huge G&L guitar fan. So, with that in mind, here goes.
This bass is Indonesian and does NOT come with any gig-bag. That being said, it has fit and finish between "American Standard" and Mexican source instruments, and it will fit cases and gig bags that a jazz bass will.
The set-up out of the box was pretty darn close. I made very minor adjustments, and now it plays like butter...the bass feels solid and sweet, and is surprisingly not too heavy (I got the swamp-ash). I love the neck, and with smaller hands, that's saying a lot for a 5 string. Great clearance for the higher frets. Right hand falls straight to the proper position, and the body reliefs and contours are in the right places. Balance is great, no diving. Hardware-wise, it's a better quality than a lot of on-shore instruments I've played over the years, and the bridge is a big, thick, solid chunky piece of metal that I will never want or need to change.
Now for the best part: the sound. Whatever you play, this bass has the ability to give you your sound with a G&L attitude. The electronics in this bass are, and not just for the price, outstanding. DEAD QUITE thru a PA set for 1,000 people.18v gives you the headroom, and this thing has warmth, clarity, and sustain. The eq/tone controls work darn well, and the center detent on all rotary controls is a great feature. I love the big humbuckers, and I honestly can't formulate a negative statement about the sound and feel of this instrument, especially considering I got it off a SDOD. Bottom line, it's actually worth the LIST price...seriously. At the every-day price you will not find this quality, this feel, and most important of all, this SOUND, with anything else.

I need to make this short because this is a deal of the day. Buy It!
If you missed the deal of the day, it's still a very good deal at the regular price. Same electronics as on the US made model and the workmanship of the bass is very good. If you want an excellent 5-string and don't want to pay a fortune, this is it. I paid full price and have no regrets.

Comments about G&L Tribute M2500 5-String Electric Bass:

Received my M2500 yesterday. Immediately took it to band practice. The bass sounds great. Initially it sounds better than my Spector Legend 5. I got the Honeyburst and it is very pretty. I love the wood grain that shows through the finish. The frets are nicely done, the neck is very playable. Overall I'm very happy with the bass.
