I got this bass for christmas and with only 6 months of playing under my belt I didn't know what to expect. But it was and still is the best and my favourite bass I own. the onboard EQ is simply amazing. You can get just about every sound ever made on this bass. The only problem I had with it was that the nut for the G string was cut too deep and I got a terrible ring on the first two frets but I took it in to get fixed. I would recommend this bass to just about anyone who already plays 5 strings or is looking to add it on.
The Hamer Velocity 2- 5 string bass is a fine guitar in its design. Its light, well balanced, neck & fretboard is flawless, action is good.I feel that such a fine quality bass deserves better electronics. The mid range & bottom end is clear & growly but the highs on the G string are cushy & muffed. Won't cut through the clutter.Ive tried everything I know to get past this handicap. A pedal tone shaper seems to help a bit but I think ill change the pickups to EMG's once I find the correct model.
