Comments about Ibanez ATK200 Electric Bass Guitar:
I'd like to preface this by saying I own the ATK 300 series model, which only differs from this one in the fretboard wood it seems (mine's maple).
I've owned my bass for at least 4 years now, and the poor thing has taken a beating. Stickers, bad restrings, a new nut, dropping it countless times, etc. I even pulled the pickguard off. That being said, the bass still plays like a charm. These basses are built like freakin' tanks! They're easily my favorite model from Ibanez. The preamp adds a nice spectrum of tones without sounding too sterile, or like any typical "active bass". And definitely a bang for the buck, don't hesitate!
Comments about Ibanez ATK200 Electric Bass Guitar:
Overall the ATK200 is worth the purchase price. It is a newer line of Ibanez, ATK series, which is available in natural or black. I ordered the natural, the picture does not do it justice. This bass would have been unknown to me, had I not seen it featured in NAMM. With the exception of the pickguard issue, this bass will not disappoint!
I really love the versatility of this bass. It plays the smooth lows of a Fender Jazz Bass. To a aggressive style, all the way to an attack for heavier riffs, all with a flick of a switch.
I would have rated a "10", but I do not like the way the pickguard is not seated right to the body. The bottom portion of the guard is "flared" out slightly and probably not a big deal or unnoticeable to most. It could be a quality control issue, and could be fixed. Other than that it is a quality instrument, with a nice solid feel reminiscent of a Fender P Bass.
So far this bass probably rivals some of the "higher ends" for the price.
Comments about Ibanez ATK200 Electric Bass Guitar:
Dig it.
I'll start off saying that I have a 1995 U.S. made so it could be different but the specs are almost exactly the same. The string through is awesome but the seller for me is the pickup(s). I usually play passive but this thing is sick. I love the tone of it and it's super nice that you can switch between the classic active funky slap sound to a think growly bass tone.
The quality of mine is amazing but as stated earlier, I've got a U.S. version so I won't opinionate.
It's a sick bass. The ATKs in general are awesome. I never was a huge fan of ibanez basses but I wanted to try something beyond fender. If you wanna try something new and remotley dig Ibanez, the ATK is the way to go.
