        Stout, worthy, and affordable.

The muscular Ibanez BTB200 4-String Electric Bass Guitar produces powerful tones thanks to a massive body, substantial neck, and a longer 35" scale. It delivers the right mix of premium woods and modern appointments for solid, satisfying bass performance.

The BTB's 35" scale offers tight tension with no flopping, superior articulation, and excellent sustain. An off-center line shape makes the upper fretwork on the BTB200 bass guitar as easy to play as the lower fretwork on a standard neck.

I got this bass from a local music store, and man, this is a steal. I noticed a lot of fret buzz with the stock strings, but after changing to some Ernie Ball Standards, and adjusting the truss rod, I get very little buzz at all. The body is amazing. It has some wicked curves, and the Iron Pewter color is beautiful. The neck is very thin, so you don't have to fumble with stretching your hand to reach a string. you can just focus on playing. You can also customize the tone quite considerably, with the two tone knobs. Speaking of tone, this bass can go very deep, or nice and trebly. My E-string sounds like a C. it's very cool. I personally found it hard to slap on this, probably because the strings are so close together. but if you use your fingers or a pick, you are set for great playability. Overall, if you play hard/metal, you are gonna get a good, hard sound that is perfect for roaring along with guitars. or if you play something that calls for a lighter sound, and still want a wicked body, then you are also set with treble that punches.

The BTB200 is an excellent bass for its price. Much better than the rest in its category. To get a bass considerably better than this one, you would need to pay more than twice the price of the BTB200.

It's an excellent bass to get started or improve on, until you are good enough and decide to take out the big money for a bass.
I've had this bass for 4 years, and I wanted to add some things I didn't see in the other reviews. Let me say that I think this bass is great, but I'll try my best to stay objective.

The bass has active pickups, which means they use a battery, but it lasts a long time, (I only changed it 1 time in 4 years of playing), and even when the battery dies you can still play the bass without it, but the tone is not as thick.
About the tones: with 2 pickups, you can select the amount you want from each pickup to get different tones. However there are 3 basic ones: deep bass (neck pickup), sharp but deep--slap tone (neck and bridge pickup), and trebly (bridge pickup). My experience with these settings is that without any effects only the slap tone and deep bass are useful. I have yet to find a use for the trebly one because it sounds too nasal, but if you play with a lot of effects (especially distortion) I suppose it would be usable.

Slapping and popping sound very good on the bass, but the high action of the strings means you have to slap and pop quite hard. This is not really a problem unless you are doing it ultra fast, all the time, because you'll get tired and it will get in the way of your technique. If you try a more expensive bass, like a stingray or something you can feel how much softer you need to pull on the strings.
The high action (can be tweaked with to a certain degree without getting buzzing) and the large scale of the fretboard means you should have quite large and/or strong hands. But then again that goes for most full scale bass guitars. The action also makes it difficult to tap easily, though it's not impossible.
The bass is very sturdy, quite heavy, and has a nice body shape to reach all notes on the fretboard, comfortable to play, despite (or thanks to?) its exaggerated shape.
No problems with the bridge (easy to adjust with an allen key), nut or frets, never had a broken string on it (even after years of very hard popping and picking).
Tuners are also good, the bass stays surprisingly well in tune.
For its price it can compete with most basses up to twice the price range. I would definitely recommend it to any beginner to high intermediate player looking for something in this price range. In terms of playability and tone, it's an excellent bass, and for its price, a bargain.

        BASS

        By Marius-HDeBZ

The bass is great for a starter bass. It's got a great sound and a wicked body. The bass doesnt slap or tap easily with. (After I slapped it, not hard, I got a buzzing sound from the E-string chair.)Basicly, it's great for the price. Reccomended!

        My Favorite Bass

I was in the market for basses last year and it came down to this beautiful bass and a Schecter Stiletto. I went down to try them both out, except they only carried the BTB. Out of all the basses I tried there (Ibas, Fenders, ESPs, Warwicks), this one was my favorite. NICE LOW ACTION makes it easier on your fingers, and it makes for GREAT SOUND. After buying this bass, I saw the Stiletto at another store, and tried it out. I still favored my BTB, which was cheaper. Please do yourself a favor and buy this bass.

        Awesome Bass

        By Luckydragon91

        from Staten Island, NY

This Bass is good all around. The only problem I had with it was that there was fret buzz at the first 3 frets but that went away after I adjusted the truss rod. Otherwise this bass is pretty much perfect. The pick-ups are great. This bass is also good because its sounds good with a pick, fingers, and slapping. I highly recommend this bass for anyone who plays bass guitar.

        By KYBassMan

Great bass. Great tone on lows and highs. There is some fret buzz but it can be taken away considerably with bigger strings, a little adjustment with the truss rod, and raising the strings at the bridge. I love this bass. The sound it produces is unmatched by any bass I have played.

        Bass no. 2

        By suprman77

I have one year experience and this is the second bass I have purchased. Features are everything you need plus 1. It's a very solid construction with a mean look. It's sound is great. So good, I'm thinking about not getting that overdrive. Definitely one great instrument.
