Honestly, if you're going to start playing bass, buy this. It has everything you need and is relatively inexpensive. When you get more serious about the music, buy something else.
This is really easy to play and smaller than most basses. It's held together pretty well, even without taking very good care of it.
Definitely buy it as a beginner, but don't think you can show up to a gig with this. It's strictly for learning or practice.
Within two days of owning this bass, the volume knob broke. Once i got that fixed the bass was okay but the amp was terrible. I finnaly get some new light gauge strings to put on it and the tuning knob came off. The strap it came with keeps falling off also and i dont even use the tuner. I like Ibanez but if you want a good quality Ibanez Bass, this isn't for you. Sending back.
I used to play guitar back in the day and am now interested in learning bass. I saw this package for a really low price and since I had the guitar background (and have small hands), I wanted to try a short scale to see if I'd like it.The bass itself is actually just fine, and I can play it fast with the shorter scale. It sounds good when played through a real amp. I can't complain at all about the bass. The gig bag works, but is really small (the bass just barely fits in it). It has a pocket but you can only fit the tuner and some pics in there and not much else. It does have nice backpack style straps. The tuner is really cheap looking, but does work Ok. The strap works fine. The issue with this set is the amp. I wasn't expecting much for the price, but the amp I received is pretty much worthless. It worked Ok for about 30 seconds but then developed a horrible noise, and has almost no output. Musicians Friend was great to work with on this though and I ended up buying a better amp.Overall this is a great value. The bass really is pretty nice and for the money you really can't complain at all. If you are lucky and get a pack with an amp that works, then this is a tremendous deal.I give 5 stars for the value, marked down the quality due to the amp, and gave the overall 4 stars since the bass is the main reason I got this and I'm happy with it.
