I got one of these for my first bass, and shortly there after my second. What happened? I set the bass up against a picnic table, which was then moved, and the bass went crashing down, cutting the neck cleanly at the joint where the 2 pieces of the neck come together; there was almost no damage to the fretboard (making me think that a one-piece neck would have survived). I then got a replacement, and now today (1 1/2 years later) I pull the damn thing out (it's a secondary bass, I've got a Fender Jag-bass for a main), start to play, and I get a good amount of fret-buzz. I look, and the neck was warping. Not to mention the fact that the necks on both of them needed sanding to get it to be smooth. Now I can't say that this isn't a complete piece of crap. There are some nice things about this bass. It's light; like a feather compared to my Jag. The output is good, and you can easily overpower the speaker on the amp (though I don't know about blowing it out, I never left it that high for safety of the amp). The neck extrudes from the surface of the body enough to rest your thumb on the neck (something that is damn near essential in a P-style bass in the eyes of finger-style bassists who like to rest their thumbs on the pickup). The neck joint isn't really intrusive and it has more frets than a standard Fender (though let's be honest, you're a bassist, those are sorta moot points, though nice things none the less). It's not a bad first bass, it's just not that great of one.

I bought this bass over 3 years ago, when I first began playing, and was immediately "jazzed" about playing. I thought it was great at the time, but over the time I played [5-7 days a week for 2 years] many parts deteoriated. Ex: the volume & tone adjustment knobs loosened from the body, frets came off [HOW!?], and the truss rod had to be ajusted monthly. The amp was powerless, but was great for at home practice, where you don't have to compete with a Marshall MG50 DFX for noise. The cable lasted for a surpisingly long time [6 months]. But to contradict everything negative previously stated, to buy this pack for price is a great deal, but it won't last forever

    Great start!

Comments about Ibanez IJSB90 Electric Bass Jumpstart Pack:

I found this to be a great start when I first got a bass. The price is perfect to because in the package you have everything you need to start. I have now upgraded basses but this one was a great one to have around. It may not have been perfect but it is a starter. I found myself happy with everything in the package. I had used it in band practice and practiceing by myself. It had worked pretty well held togther well and it doesn't look half bad. For the price I must recommend this to any bass player who is looking for a good start!
It is good for a starter pack! Depending on the musician you will probably eventually want to invest in a better one!

    Great Beginning Bass

Comments about Ibanez IJSB90 Electric Bass Jumpstart Pack:

I ordered this a few months ago, when I began playing bass. It has served me well. It's a great price for everything you get, though the amp is very small and doesn't pack much power. I have problems with fret buzz and it came with a nut problem, but I'll be getting that fixed soon.Overall, I would recommend this bass to anyone looking to start playing.

Great guitar for the price. The amp is sort of quiet. The bass plays good I had one bad tuning peg that had to be replaced. The strap was bad but overall good guitar.

    A good start

Comments about Ibanez IJSB90 Electric Bass Jumpstart Pack:

Got this for Christmas about a year and a half ago as my very first bass. I still have it but I'm looking to upgrade. Pros: Very lightweight, great sound, comes with everything you need to start off, gig bag is only just now starting to wear. Cons: Amp is easily "outgrown," tuning machines and tone knobs are crap (I've replaced the knobs with bouncy balls), the strap didn't last me long at all, sound changes drastically with a new cord. Overall a very nice bass that can compete with the pros. I recommend it to anyone who needs a cheap backup or are just starting out.

    Great Bass For Starters

    By theVEGANmusician

Comments about Ibanez IJSB90 Electric Bass Jumpstart Pack:

so i bought this bass in june, and all i can say is that its amazing. first ill start with the amp. the amp is decent, 10 watts, nothing major. it does its job. now for the bass. the strings are decent, i havent had to change them even after about 5 months of playing. the bass itself is great. ive used a couple other basses, from fender, esp, and rogue. all i can say is this is the best bass i have used. it is so easy to play. buy this bass

    not half bad

    By none-MGrQq

Comments about Ibanez IJSB90 Electric Bass Jumpstart Pack:

when i first bought this bass i had the action raised because there was no way to play the first fret on any of the strings. WHen i had ot fixed it was a perfect first bass. it's tone was pretty decent and the finish was fine. the tuning machines were made of plastic though which is what kept me from giving it 5 stars. the amp was good for almost four years and then it started emitting a loud and bothersome static noise. the strap held very well and still hasn't broken. The gig bag is pretty good to, not much for protection but if your careful with it then i will last you, i still use it on my newer bass. the dvd was pretty helpfull up untill i misplaced it, and the tuner is still the tuner i use. This is a great buy with some surprisingly good quality pieces of gear. thee only thing i would consider replacing right away is the cable.

This bass is good for the price, but it really dont tune that good.It makes a ringing sound on the A string, and the pickups is'nt that good.I mean this bass is good for the price, but I really didnt know how bad this bass was until I played a music man stingray bass at a local music store...compared to it its crap. But if your starting out it would be a good choice, but if your planing on being in a band dont buy it.

    This Bass Is Pretty Good

    By Bosco1513

Comments about Ibanez IJSB90 Electric Bass Jumpstart Pack:

The Ibanez is a pretty good bass, but it hums. It'll stop if you put your finger on the string. The tone is good and the DVD is helpful. The amp is powerful, but won't overpower a drumset. It's not bad for a beginning bass, but think about replacing the pickups.
