A versatile acoustic bass that’s great for home or on stage.

The Ibanez SGBE110 Sage Series acoustic-electric bass is extraordinarily versatile. You can get a smooth woody side during an all-acoustic set or plug it in and fine-tune a big meaty sound. It can sometimes be hard to hear an acoustic bass amongst other instruments, that’s why the SGBE110 comes fully loaded with easy to use electronics that ensure you sound great at all times. The Ibanez piezo AEQ202T pickup and preamp with 2-band EQ includes an onboard tuner to keep you and your bandmates tight. Constructed of a mahogany back and sides with a spruce top the SGBE110 has loads of overtone coloration.

    Case sold separately.

Comments about Ibanez Sage Series SGBE110 Acoustic-Electric Bass Guitar:

I've been playing guitar for 9 years, and decided to try out playing a bass guitar. I wanted an acoustic one to practice quietly at home, and also because if you learn in any acoustic instrument, the electric will be that much easier to play later on.

I went to the nearest music shop in Savannah, Portman's music, and tried it out. I compared it with the cheaper AEB5 bass, which sounded worse, full of buzzing, no bass, and just a cheap feel. The sage bass feels like a more expensive instrument than what it costs, when you compare it to acoustic guitar build quality. The sound is good, not very loud as the body is not very thick, but when plugged in it sounds great. Tried it on a Fender rumble 150, and it sounded just like an electric bass, no "echo", no buzz at all. There was some fret buzz around the 12th fret on the first two strings, but nothing too bad. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I'm not experienced in the bass world, but I do know how a good acoustic instrument should play, and this one's pretty good for the money. If Ibanez threw in a gig bag with it it would be one of the best bang for your buck acoustic basses out there.

It comes with D'Addario Phosphor Bronze strings, which are easy to play, and have a warm tone to them. Tried to replace them with Fender flatwounds, but they were buzzing too much (they're made for electric anyway). It's hard to reach the higher frets as it doesn't have a cutaway, but that's the only benefit the AEB's have over this bass.
