Comments about Ibanez SR1206E 6-String Electric Bass:

This is my first six-string, and the most I have ever spent on a single instrument. The quality is second-to-none, other than perhaps the Prestige models which I have yet to try. The body is smooth, well balanced, and comfortable. The neck is straight, solid, and soft to the touch. And the fretwork... I cannot say enough about the fretwork. Ibanez tends to use "extra jumbo" style frets, and each one is finished individually by hand to a soft smooth finish.

A guitarist friend of mine picked it up and said he's never felt a bass so solid and playable, with low action and no dead spots. "It plays like a guitar" he says, and honestly I think this even nicer than most guitars I've tried. With the neck as sturdy as it is, you'd be surprised just how low the action can be kept, even as thin as it is. All six strings ring like a piano too, even without taperwound 0.130 or 0.105 on the low end.

If I wanted one thing different, it would be the installation of a cup inside the jack cutout. That would really finish off the looks of this perfectly, and can potentially protect it from chipping. But otherwise, with its gold hardware and choice woods, this looks as good as it sounds and it sounds amazing.

Comments about Ibanez SR1206E 6-String Electric Bass:

a great bass all around. my first 6 string and the primary instrument I use for recording and playing. the weight is surprisingly light considering the woods used are on the heavier scale. the nordstrand pickups are better than the emgdc's I used to use on my old basses and produce great clarity and tone. I play hard rock and melodic death metal, with some dabbling in jazz and fusion. sustain is excellent for bolt on and I only have to tune up once a week. overall great buy for the money and definitely the best bass i've owned and played from ibanez. did I mention this thing is striking to look at and that photos don't do it justice.
