I bought this bass as a backup when my main bass was down for repair reasons. My initial goal was to have a decent sounding bass that I could use during rehursals and keep my other bass as unblemished as possible for gigging and recording reasons. After playing every bass in the immediate price range for a few days I settled on this one, and I couldn't have made a better choice. The lightness of the body keeps it from being a hassle to play, the action is smooth and easy to move around quickly on, it is balanced beautifully (don't need to worry about it taking a nose dive if you let go of the neck) and the tone is incredibly versatile. If you want deep and boomy, you've got it; if you want light and punchy, you've got it as well. And virtually anything in between. I would reccomend this instrument to anyone, and would even use it in a live/recording situation.

This is a pretty good bass for a beginner. I have owned it for almost two years now. The active pickups are a pain to deal with. You can usually get a good low end out of them or a good high but its never consistent. And when the battery starts to die your volume significantly drops even though the battery still has enough power to work something like a distortion pedal for a few weeks of consistent use. The bass does play quite good however but is lacking in sound. Also my tone knob has come loose a couple of times, no matter how tight I put it back on. Overall i would reccomend this to a begginer or someone that doesn't plan on playing shows with it. Its not reliable enough.

I really enjoy using this bass

This is a wonderful bass with a crisp, clean sound. The soundgear neck is thin for FAST fretting. I love it.

I have had it three years and it has been awesome for my two rock bands. The activeness is awesome. I don't really like how it sounds in drop d though.

I will never forget

By Dante Valient

Second bass I ever own and I haven't played another one as much as I play this one. The sound is great and I never had a problem with it. I will never forget the 3rd year or so I owned this bass, I tossed it over my head and straight to the pavement after a show. Made a crazy amount of cracks in the finish. Still functions at 100% and looks pretty cool. I recommend this bass.

Good buy

By bassman4st

Great bass for beginners at an affordable price. I love the bass boost, gives it even more punch. Pretty light too. Best bass in it's price range, and an affordable active. Unplugging it every time is kind of annoying though(it uses a 9v battery, and will drain if left plugged in.

This about covers it...

I played this bass at my friend's house today just jammin, and I REALLY dug it!! I play squier with super heavy strings and EMG select passive pickups in it, so I'm used to pretty broad tone, but this ibanez sure did it! The onboard EQ is very nice, it acts really well as a treble booster for compinsating for lost volume when you thump and pluck. (if youre like me at least)Honesly its an awesome bass, and if I'm ever in the market for another 4-string, I'd definently consider this over anything else at its price or more expensive.

i bought this bass used and I have been using it for 2 yrs. it is the best bass ive played since I started, its small body makes it easier to play and move around. its so good it made ibanez #1 in my book. I would suggest it to anyone wanting a great bass to play any type of music.

Awesome sound for a reasonable price!

By Bass4Me

The sound that this bass puts out is amazing! The closed pickups are well worth the money. The bass boost gives you more of that low punchy sound when and where you need it.

Very High Value

This is an incredible bass. I got this guitar a few weeks ago, and I've been in love with it ever since. The single and split coil pick-ups ensure that no matter what you're playing style, this bass has you covered. It's the best bass I've ever played, and is definitely the bass for someone who's in the market for an upgrade from a Squire or, dare I say it, First Act.
