I've owned my SR400QM for a couple of years now, and I have been very happy with it. It has a wide range of tones available, thanks to active circuitry and better than average controls. I have no trouble going from a nice heavy bottom end to a midrange growl to a bright tone that slaps better than most other basses I've tried. My only complaints about the bass were that it had Elixir strings put on at the factory, and its neck is a little unstable. The strings did sound pretty good for a long time, but within a couple of weeks the "space-age polymer" started to fray and they looked like they needed a shave. I eventually changed them out for a set of Rotosound FM66's (loosening the truss rod accordingly), which really sound great on the bass. The lower tension also helped stabilize the neck a bit.All in all I love this bass, and I think its a great value. It probably won't replace your P or J, but it has it's own cool vibe and is extremely versatile. The super thin neck and light weight make it effortless to play as well.

Beautiful bass. Super comfortable and lightweight. Paired it up with an Acoustic B600H amp head with the B810 stack and it is very loud and clear. Cuts through a Marshall JVM410H on overdrive channel with 1960A half-stack and Pearl VBL double bass drum kit with no problem. Active pickups on the soundgear are fantastic. Not a better bass for the price. Word of warning: the picture shows a blue bass and options are lavender burst or charcoal brown. The lavender burst is definitely purple. Thought it was just what they called the blue because of the picture but I kept it anyway since it is good looking too...long as you're ok with purple.
Good.

Comments about Ibanez SR400QM Soundgear Electric Bass:
I have been playing bass for about 6 months..I'ts not that long BUT I have played alot of different kinds of basses. This bass is by far the best I have found around. No other one can match the really nice tone and just the feel of it. It's really sleek and really fun to just let loose and play.. It doesn't rattle or shake and it's not too heavy..I really like this bass, definately quality. The picture isn't exactly the right color, it's more a dark grape purple..wasn't what I was exspecting, it was better :)

Comments about Ibanez SR400QM Soundgear Electric Bass:
I bought this bass because I think Ibanez makes the best basses in the world for people with smaller hands. The soundgear basses always seem to have nice slender necks, great action, and all of the tonal options needed. I have owned the SR500 for 5 plus years now? I bought the 400 because it is lighter. It doesnt have the Bartolini setup but it still sounds great. I am confused with the tone knobs. Mine is a 4 knob setup with a stacked knob. Both the bass and the mid knob seem to work as a bass boost. I get great tone but not as user friendly as the 5 knob setup.I am not much for needing alot of tonal options. I basically need a standard deep tone with a little mids and highs to hear my attack. Then I like to be able to dump a little mid and boost the bass for slapping. My SR500 does this easy. My 4 knob 400 is giving me a little trouble figuring it out. I will play this 400 bass 90% of the time because of its weight. The biggest difference in overall feel between the 500 and 400 is the 400 feels much brighter all over. Must be the maple. I love it. The newer 400s advertise the 5 button tone control. I wish mine had that option. The pickups are rounded and dont leave much of a thumb rest but you could add one if needed. I find just enough of the edge to get by. If you want great tone, thin necks, great prices buy Ibanez soundgear basses.

I've owned this bass for about six months now and i absolutely love it. the pictures do not do it justice in person the looks are stunning. it is very versatile and can easily handle any style of music you want to play with the right tweaking. the neck is comfortable and fast i have a small problem with fret buzz but just need to make a few adjustments to take care of that. the battery life is much better than every other bass I've owned. all in all its probably one of the best basses you could find with out spending a fortune.
Comments about Ibanez SR400QM Soundgear Electric Bass:
This bass is awesome the onboard eq system offers sooooooo many possibilties with tone, the slap to finger style knob offers a huge variety of sounds and the pickup blender sounds good in all over. This bass also plays AWSOME! super thin neck and body ready to play right out of the box. The only downside is on mine the eq knobs can make some noise when youre turning them but NOT every one has this problem. In addition, the pickups are curved so the place where on might rest a thumb isnt very wide. I have no issue but if you like a nice big place to rest your thumb you might have to bring the pickup a little higher than normal. Easy fix tho no big deal. Overall amazing instrument and it loves effects so youre pedals will be satisfied as well :)

I just got this bass today actually, and this bass looks way better in person than in the photo! i instantly fell in love. every other sweet bass i've ever seen and wanted to play, well this tops all of them. so if you are looking at this bass i'd get it. i haven't messed around with the EQ too much yet but so far it sounds way better than my Yamaha.

I just got this bass about a week ago and the first time i saw it i knew that its the one! i think thats its a lot better then the p-bass that i play but over all the quality is great. love it!
Comments about Ibanez SR400QM Soundgear Electric Bass:
I bought this bass a year ago because my rogue bass fell apart (R.I.P). so far owning this bass has been a wonderful experience, the sound quality is unbeatable for this price range. And it looks absolutely beautiful. I play a lot live, and after show's people are always coming up to me to tell me that they love my bass.At first I was a little concerned that it would scratch very easily, BUT the finish on it is so good that it takes a lot to scratch it, the only scratch on it is on the back, while I was taking it out of the case it slipped out of my hand and fell on a sharp metal stand and I thought "oh no now theres going to be a big hole in the back" but when I looked in the back it was just a small dent that barely scraped the finish.MAGIC!
Comments about Ibanez SR400QM Soundgear Electric Bass:
I bought this bass site unseen a few weeks ago. I was really unimpressed with this bass. I unpacked it and picked it up. The neck on this bass was puny, it felt really light and overall felt like a child's toy. I bought this bass based on some of the reviews here but did not see what others see in this bass. I do a lot of recording at home and plugged this in and was not impressed buy the sound quality. What was annoying about this particular bass was that you had to fiddle with the eq settings, and choose between slap or fingered finger style settings. I found that each time I was recording a song, I had to waste time dialing in a very thin tone. I would not recommend buying this bass because it does not live up to the hype. Great for starting out or for people who don't get what good bass tone should sound like.
