Comments about Ibanez SR605 5-String Bass Guitar:

Love this bass. It is the first 5 string I have owned and it is pretty sweet. Still learning as I go but I have yet to see a downside to this guitar. Pairs nicely with the Hartke VX3500 for the small gigs we do. Great tone and sustain. Lows get a bit muddy at times but a decent mute and technique will clear it right up.

Comments about Ibanez SR605 5-String Bass Guitar:

I got the Ash 605 because it looks freaking awesome! I never thought the type of wood would make a difference. The Ash bass has excellent highs and has a very clear sound. However, the body doesn't respond and resonate those low frequencies I love (what is the point of having the low B?) The on board eq does help but can never make up for what's missing acoustically. I would recommend trying the Mahogany option. I suspect the lows are better.

Comments about Ibanez SR605 5-String Bass Guitar:

The Ibanez SR605 is like the "S"-Series of basses. The bubinga neck, a resonant dark and porous wood, has a very thin "D"-profile that's heavenly if you're a fan of Wizard necks. The flexible active electronics are so sensible you wonder why all basses aren't designed this way. And the body? Its rounded contours are actually superior to the Sabre-guitars in this regard and the natural wood finish is just organic.

I can't think of any way this bass could be improved - it's made in Indonesia, but the build quality wouldn't be any better if it were made in Japan.

          Ibanez SR605

          By Papa Jon 1624

Comments about Ibanez SR605 5-String Bass Guitar:

i was in the market for a new 5-string and went with the SR605. The finish (mine is natural wood finish) is beautiful! I love the ash body. The neck is fast and the string spacing is just right for me. I'm not much of a slapper, so the mid/slap switch was not really a big plus. The pre-amp is very responsive. You can hear big differences in tone by turning the knobs slightly. With some time and patience, you can dial in pretty much any tone you want. Very versitile bass. The mids and highs are where this bass shines. Great clarity in all the notes. Good build quality. Overall, like all my previous Ibanez models, great value for the money! I definitely recommend this bass!

          Better than Expected!!

Comments about Ibanez SR605 5-String Bass Guitar:

I usually never write or read reviews because sometimes I find them so off the wall or actually have nothing to do with the product (i.e. a shipping problem or a scratch).I bought this bass because I've yet to own a 5 string, played bass for years. Now this is my main go-to bass. For the money this is it!! I usually stay clear of Ibanez stuff because it looks too Heavy Metal looking for my taste. This instrument proved me wrong - Tons of compliments on it, feels and sounds great. Just a small truss rod teak and this bass was ready to go. I'm extremely happy with this purchase and honestly you can't go wrong with it, trust me.

          Well built

Comments about Ibanez SR605 5-String Bass Guitar:

I Just got this massive bass this week and WOW, I've played the SR505 at GC for some years now and was going to get one. I took a chance and got the SR605 and WOW I am so impressed with it, that I'm thinking of getting a four string model too. I picked it up right out of the box made some minor tuning and started playing it. The tone was awesome great lows, christal clear low B. This is the main reason why I don't buy 5 strings because its hard to find one that doesn't muddy up when playing, but this one is a keeper. It has so much punch and the MID switch is killer if your a slapper like I, then it makes it supper easy to switch between finger and slap styles.I have been playing for 13 years now and I have a wide range of basses but I always come back to Ibanez. If you want great tone and sharp looks get this bass its the best one I've bought yet.
