Big sound and head-turning looks for a great price.
The SRA505 5-string bass has a mahogany body topped with luxurious quilted maple, and its 3-piece bolt-on neck with a U profile and 12" fretboard radius is especially comfortable. EMG pickups have a dual-coil design for low noise and plenty of output. Using EMG's "CS" design (Ceramic and Steel), these pickups have the punch and fullness of older passive designs along with added brightness for a better-defined tone. Cosmo black hardware and a gloss finish create a slick look.

I needed a new bass to replace my B.C Rich, and I needed it to be around 600.00. Sooo I got this. I figured it would be a nothing special sorta instrument. Now, this is the part where I was horribly mistaken. I must have sat in the store for at least half an hour just...noodling. This bass kills The EMG's are monsters, not only on power but tone this thing can get basically any tone you desire. Its set up like alot of SR basses: slick and fast. I sounds good even droped down to C standard this bass is fantastic for the price.
This Bass is some kind of wonderful!! The EMG pickups are the best thing to happen to a bass guitar!! The tone is Very flexible with the 3 band EQ,and verry powerful(HOOAHH!!) The Elixer stings which came with the guitar are great, knowing that they will last a lot longer. The Black Berry finish is an Eye Popper under incandecent lighting! WOW!! Beautiful!! I still can't get over how beautiful this bass is!! One of the best parts is that the bass was set up nearly perfect out of the box!! A minor adjustment of the B string and Bingo(!),perfection!! I own a 2005 Ibanez SR305DX,and it's been a sweet bass, but this SRA505 blows it out of the water! One thing to note, these Ibanez SR series basses are an exellent transition to 5 string, from a 4! I still own my Fender Jazz from 1973,and it was a snap to change from my Fender to the Ibanez,so Fear Not,people who want to change over! Im Extremely excited over this bass!! Get one, you won't regret it!!
Ok, so i had been looking for a new bass since a couple months ago, I decided on this one, and now i have it in my hands, so ima write a review so u guys that r looking for info on this bass can have it. I have experience playing many different basses in churches, concerts, friends, and other events. I have been playing bass since I was 13, so i do know what makes up a good bass guitar. And let me tell u...this is one great bass guitar. The tone, the feel, its all great, its not as heavy as i thought it would be, it has the perfect weight. This bass doesn't hurt my back, it starts hurting around the 3rd hour of playing non-stop. The neck is thin and fast, i love it. the "B" string has a nice tone and it kicks with strength not like other 5-string basses. The body it round and the edges are rounded out to keep the shape but at a point where it wont hurt you. I like the finish, its a pretty cool look. The price is great, Ibenez did a great job on making a wonderful bass and not over pricing it like other brands would have done with this bass. The balance is perfect, now...the tone knobs...its a 10. The bass, mid, and treble boost/cut control knobs are really precise and its lets you set up your bass at the tone you like it without even having to touch the amplifier, you can play from slap to reggae on this bass. Now, the pickups...the are active (yes, you will need a battery) and the are really powerful, this bass will kick real loud and still keep a good tone. Overall, this is a great bass for a bassist at a pro-intermediate or a semi-professional level. I do recommend this bass, yeah... Ibanez never lets you down
comparatively to the Sr505 which is nearly the same price it is not as good. None the less it is a great bass. It has a bass wood body so the low tones don't give a big punch but it gives the tone you want. since it is bass wood it is also very light and comfortable to play. The emg active pickups sound great but are just a little too powerful in my opinion. the tuning pegs hold very well. Adjusting the truss rod is a little troublesome with it, but you wont need to touch it much because it is set up great when the come out of the factory. overall a great bass.
