This instrument was designed by Ibanez with one goal in mind: to be the ultimate workhorse for modern touring and recording bassists.
I purchased the SRA500 roughly a year ago. This bass simply has had an aesthetic overhaul from the previous version. It now includes oval shaped abalone inlays, natural binding on the body, and a redesigned bridge which actually has less mass than the previous.
The body is very solidly made without a single flaw anywhere. The finish on the body is not only gorgeous, but it doesnt stick to your arm or cause friction of any sort during your playing which is massively beneficial to smooth playing.
The finish on the neck is the most comfortable satin-finished style that I have ever played. Its not so grainy that it becomes difficult to slide and navigate your hands but its not glossy in the slightest either so youre not playing something that feels like trying to slide your hand across a heavily finished table. Also remember, this is Ibanez, they pride themselves on slim playable necks.
The EMGHZ pickups are the perfect component to any instrument with the design aspect being modern playability and performance. Clear, powerful, and fully able to provide any sound you require of them. I will mention however that these pickups arent for the weak, clean tones still cut like a knife so dont expect to buy this bass and be able to accompany a guitarist with no balls, unless you intend to trample him with your size 666 war boots.
If you play punk, hard rock, or metal and want your every note to be a thundering statement of your dominance onstage and in the studio, buy this bass. Trust me, I have two.
