A great bass gets even better.
The original Soundgear was built for comfort as much as it was sound. The upgraded Ibanez SRX695DX model features a 5-piece SRX5 maple/bubinga thru-neck heel design and a wider string pitch for those who find the string spacing on most 5-stringers to be too narrow. The quilted maple top gives this 5-string bass guitar its good looks, while the exposed pole pieces of the full-range passive PFR-5N neck and neck bridge pickups ensure you'll get the highest sound output. The electric bass's Accu-cast B205 bridge and EQB-IIDX 2-band EQ help keep things sounding their best.

This bass plays awesomely. My only complaint is the finish is a little inconsistent on the quilted top on mine. It's much lighter in some places than others; so much so that I can see the actual wood color. However, none of that effects the way it plays and sounds. I tune a whole step down and even with a 34" scale neck this thing still maintains a consistent feel across the strings.(Once is was properly set up for the new tuning and string gauge that is.) This bass has power for miles and at the end of the day I'm proud to say it's mine.
- Everything about it
- None to Speak of
- Live performance
Bought this as a backup, and it is now my mainstay.
After a little fine tuning, this is honestly the best I've played... I don't claim to be the greatest that ever lived, but I know the feel and tone I like from a bass, and this one hits it square. The weight is perfect, I like to feel my instrument when I am jamming and/or shredding live. Neckthrough and fret board are spot on as well... Overall, this is an EXCELLENT purchase. If you can still find one, BUY IT!!
- Was this a gift?:
as with all of the upper end SRX series basses, the quality of the this bass are impressive. i must say though, that this model has the greatest sound and low end punch of any srx bass i have ever played. the neck is SOLID as a ROCK with a nice heel where the neck meets the headstock for superior stability. it has UNBELIEVABLE sustain and high end clarity. i should warn you that this bass is pretty heavy, so it may not be for you if you plan to play standing up for 4 or 5 hours at a time.
I own alot of highend basses. Warwick, Lakland, Mike Lull etc. I brought this one at a great price feeling I might of made a mistake. BOY WAS I WRONG! If your hurting for money and need a bass this is your weapon of choice. The sustain is amazing. The fretwork and fretboard are immaculant. This bass looks alot better in person then it does in it's pictures. The preamp is ok. I'm actually sacred to change it because it is a great sounding bass.
When I received this, I could not believe the quality of this instrument for the price I paid. I felt as if I was ripping someone off. The neck-thru is stunning as well as the finish on this bass. The neck feels great and the action was set up perfectly. This bass punches you in the face. THe low B cuts w/ great clarity. It is a heavy bass so make sure you choose wisely on your strap choice. I feel the weight adds to the sustain and overall tone. Very happy with my purchase.
Hard to believe the price on this neck-thru 5-string bass. The variety of sounds I am able to out of it is amazing. It came setup with great intonation and great action. Couldn't ask for more.
