A Flea bass for everyone.
Flea's energy and vision inspired Modulus to create a bass that bears his name: the Modulus Guitars Flea FB5 5-String Bass. Now this 5-string bass is becoming a choice for players making their own names. The Flea FB5 has a uniquely shaped double-cutaway alder body. Space Age carbon fiber neck has a compound-radius composite fingerboard, pearl dot top position markers, and bidirectional relief adjusting rod. The Basslines MM pickup is controlled by a Bartolini active tone system with master volume and 2-band EQ. Modulus Guitars includes a hardshell case with the Flea FB5.
The Modulus Quantum bass neck featured on the FB5 basses is a lightweight, ultra-rigid D-shaped shell made from dozens of layers of hand-formed, aerospace-grade, epoxy-impregnated carbon fibers. Its miraculous strength-to-weight ratio and extreme resonant peak make it ideal for producing unclouded, even tone. Because carbon fiber telegraphs attack more quickly than conventional wood necks, it also aids articulation and clearly pronounces attack dynamics. A non-structural relief adjusting system adjusts in both directions, allowing for underbow and overbow. Each note produced is full, with abundant low and high harmonics. The harder material adds extra high end sizzle and tighter focus to tone.
The NTBT 2-band active EQ with master volume lets you tweak your tone eight ways from Sunday. The treble control is centered at 6kHz with 16dB boost/cut. The bass control is centered at 30Hz with 15dB boost/cut. Both controls are detented at 0.

This product is awesome and much better than Musicman Stingray. Easy to play, easy to slap, etc. Highly recommended.
This is by far one of the greatest basses ever. Plays great, looks great, and sounds amazing.
Without a doubt the best bass I've ever played. The neck won't warp and never needs to be adjusted. Awesome tone and excellent sustain for a bolt-on.
This is the best 5-string bass I have ever played. The neck is truely a work of art and plays effortless. No dead spots anywhere! The action is perfect with zero frett buzz. The tension on the B string is just right, with no flop, and exellant tone all up & down the neck. The 34" scale allows for easy string bending across all strings. Killer tone for any style of music. Mine has the 3-band eq and I use the mid-control most often to get my tone while the other 2 are closer to flat. Once I got my tone dialed in I can change styles of music simply by playing position. Right on top of the pickup is nice and fat for rock & country, bridge-smooth for jazz & R&B, and up on the neck for thunder bass. I have been looking for the perfect 5-sring for sometime and for my money this is it.
The tone of this bass is not like any other bass out on the market. The carbon fiber neck allows for massive sustain. The bartolini preamp is very tweakable. This bass is awesome for slapping and excels in any musical style. Use your fingers or use a pick, it still sounds great! Compared to a MusicMan 5, this bass sounds just as good and better in terms of sustain. If you need lotsa knobs, this isn't your kind of bass (especially with the two band EQ version). This bass is simple but effective.
sounds and feels like a dream. the B string has a nice tone to it. makes the music man look like some cheap garage sale bass.
An amazing bass for any style of music. Great for slapping, tapping and finger picking.
Not only does this guitar go great for just about any kind of music you can think of, but it feels really good - and the design on the back of the neck (and just the guitar in general) makes it look like a work of art!!
One of the best basses ever. This bass has such a rich full sound. the action is perfect and has such good tone on the low b string. perfect for slap which is what i would use it for. i played one several times and hope to buy one soon. totally worth the money. no better new bass than this unless its some super custom made bass, or maybe a nice tobias growler model before Gibson bought them.
This is one bass that is gonna roar when you play it. The graphite next is killer, giving you awesome CLEAR lows and super crisp highs. It definitly is a slapping monster, delivering some of the greatest action i've ever felt come right from the factory. If you are into slap like me, save your nickels and buy this bass. If you play any other genre, the active bartolini pickups can handle anything. I have had a high end Ibanez 5 sting for years now and have been waiting to be able to afford this bass! If you are looking for a high end bass that is gonna make you play better, this is it... well any high end modulus bass will for that matter! Modulus makes incredible instruments.
