A red hot signature bass from Modulus designed with master rhythm maker Flea.
Flea is widely known as one of the most talented bassists in the modern rock world. The Red Hot Chili Peppers' rhythm man has laid down some of the funkiest, most hard-hitting grooves to hit the radio for more than 20 years. Modulus Guitars, who also hail from California, but a bit north of where Flea earned his chops, has been making guitars for almost as many years as Flea has been making music. Now these two musical forces have collaborated to create the Flea signature 4-string bass guitar. Whether you play funk, rock, jazz, or any other musical style, this versatile bass will give you excellent playability to fit in any genre and can emulate the sounds Flea gets from his very own bass.
The Flea J4 features a carefully balanced, contoured alder body that gives you just the right amount of mass for solid tone and is shaped for ease of play, especially for the slap and funk player. The dense composite fingerboard gives you similar performance to ebony and will not shrink or crack, and produces more sizzle on the high end. The 22-fret Quantum neck is a custom, "D" shaped shell bolt-on style made from layers of hand-formed, aerospace-grade, epoxy-impregnated carbon fibers. It aids in articulation and is dynamically very sensitive, producing crystal clear, even tone.
Along with a Badass bridge, the J4 is equipped with two Bartolini Jazz pickups. and the Bartolini NTBT tone systemwhich includes volume, active bass, and treble controls. The Flea signature bass also has a pickguard and chrome hardware. With its 34" scale, it's a great fit in anyone's hands.
