Comments about Music Man Classic Stingray 4 Electric Bass Guitar:
I've just bougth a Music Man Stingray Classic 4 in mint green with rosewood fretboard. Some will say I'm dumb because this is my first bass, but I'm not. You don't need to be professional to be astonished by the finition and the wood's quality of an instrument. Yes, I could have bought a Sterling witch is a much more sheaper bass with a great sound, but I don't care. I've been playing guitar for nearly 20 years, I wanted to get on bass and I always loved the Stingray sound so I get one !
The sound is just awesome, the look either, so if you can afford it, go on !
(Apologize for my poor english, I'm a french guy !)
Comments about Music Man Classic Stingray 4 Electric Bass Guitar:
Just bought an Ernie Ball MM Sting Ray Classic 4 string. My first bass was a Leo Fender MM '78 Sting Ray 4 string. It is still my "go to " bass. In the '80's when Ernie Ball took over MM some of the changes they made I did not care for. Personal perference. How can you improve on perfection?
I had the opportunity to play a classic reissue and had to have one. The feel of the neck is just like my '78 and I perfer the 2 band EQ over the 3 band EQ. Some of the modern improvement are just a plus. If you have never played an original Leo Fender MM Sting Ray or Sabre (2 pick-up version of the Sting Ray) this is as close as you will ever get.
,
I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for. Yes, major brands are very pricey. So shop for what you can afford.
Comments about Music Man Classic Stingray 4 Electric Bass Guitar:
Bought my first bass in '78 (I was 16). It was a Leo Fender Music Man Sting Ray. Been spoiled ever since.
I have played other Ernie Ball basses through out the years but they just were not the same. Different feel I guess. Never did understand the need for a mid control. How do you improve on perfection?
Took a chance on the classic reissue. Thanks guys. Job well done. The neck feels just like my '78..perfect!! Same 2 band EQ. Awesome.
Though there are some that sound close, there is nothing that sounds like the signature sound of a Music Man.
I would give it a ten but they are kind of pricey.
Comments about Music Man Classic Stingray 4 Electric Bass Guitar:
I think I said everything that needs to be said but did I talk about the birdseye in the neck?
Yeah,I'm old but please bear with me. Back in 1977 I owned two MM Stingrays (Never gig without a backup) one of which I still have and will NEVER sell.
The new Classics are every bit as GREAT as the 77's with a few refinements and a quality of neck woods that are mind-blowing (the birdseye on my one piece maple neck is hypnotic).
It has the newer style truss rod wheel that makes adjustment simple even though I doubt you will have to mess with it unless you put much heavier guage strings on it than the ones they ship it with.
(It was only a year ago that I had to tweak the truss rod on old '77-not bad for a 35 year old bass! )
It also has the same electronincs. Very interactive treble and bass controls with no center detents
like the newer Ernies have.
For a "newbie" to these controls it may take you a little time to dial in your tone but belive me there is everything from Jaco to Jamerson in there.
The finish and neck fit is PERFECTION and did I mention the birdseye in the neck?
There are times when I just stare at it for minutes before I start playing. It's that gorgeous!!!
Oh Yeah. Did I menton the birdseye in the neck? I'm looking at her now and she's saying "Pick me up amd play me".
Comments about Music Man Classic Stingray 4 Electric Bass Guitar:
The build is excellent, the tone is versatile to most music, the neck pocket to union the body is tight!
I got the tobacco burst, maple fretboard. The birdseye maple fretboard is beautiful!!!, the action is butter and the weight is just right! The string mutes provide an incredible Motown sound when engaged and when lowered can be very hip-funky! The burst design is deep and very attractive. The back of the neck is rounded and very comfortable.
Fantastic like noted!
Well, they brought the classic back so you know its going cost you but look at it as an investment, for those you weren't around to get the original! Let's just hope they don't start damaging (relic) these fine instruments like another company did and charge double the price! Something to ponder, would you buy a new car with rust, paint chipped and a few dents for the same price as a flawless one???? Probably not!
Comments about Music Man Classic Stingray 4 Electric Bass Guitar:
I bought the Black, Maple Fretboard with Birdseye Maple Neck and love it! Beautiful fit and finish. I did not prefer the Musicman basses until I got hold of this one. Deep resonance, fast neck for a wide bridge, awesome tone, simple controls. I played just about everything over a month period and finally found this bass.
Comments about Music Man Classic Stingray 4 Electric Bass Guitar:
Just picked up this beauty and I can't stop playing it. Have had Sterlings before but this one has much deeper tones and very fast and comfortable neck. The birdseye maple neck is gorgeous. The setup was perfect right from GC. Well worth the price. U won't be sorry.
Comments about Music Man Classic Stingray 4 Electric Bass Guitar:
