This bass is a great choice if you are passionate about the low-bass sound and have already mastered the 4-string. I don't recommend learning how to play bass on a 5 string bass because the B-string is like a level up, and will be hard to get used to. This bass is extremely loud! It's even loud when it's played without an amp. I ordered this bass a couple weeks ago and I was very pleased. It comes with a protective hard shell case (the StingRay 5 case shown online) and it is wrapped up and well packaged. The bass is really heavy, but that is just part of having super high quality electronics. I have the 5 HH in stealth black. Before I finally decided on stealth black, I also had other color choices in mind. Just remember that super flashy and sparkly ones may look nice now, but they might be out of fashion in a few years. JUST GO WITH A CLASSIC COLOR like black or sunburst and you won't be let down. Great bass, worth every penny.

This Music Man Stingray 5 HH Pace Car Blue is awesome it sounds great plays great. Everybody that's seen it gives it a good comment they way it looks sounds. It's got the deep and punchy sound I like its does everything I want it too. This is my second Music Man I own I want own anything else. Musician Friends you Rock I buy all of my stuff from all and the best thing I like is that it comes straight from the warehouse still in the box not on display. This Guitar once you play it you will love it. I would tell everyone to buy it. It's awesome in every way.

It will do whatever you want it to. Every bass sound in my head is in this bass. The 5 way pickup selection and 3 band eq make it easy to do it all. The pickup are sensitive to touch, whether digging in, thumping, slapping, picking or tapping. A good, wide, comfortable strap is a must for the weight and you'll be good to go. MM customer support is top of the line on the slim chance that you need them or just have questions.

I have a MM 5 HH and let me tell you, I absolutely love it. I owned a Fender pre-63, and Ibanez 5 and another Fender P and this bass just makes the rest look bad. I tone quality, and the touch on ny 5 is just so smooth and precise. it's also very forgiving, after long gigs and the finger don't press hard enough, the bass still punches out good tones without the buzz. I use Ernie Ball Slinkys and the match should be and is perfect. Whether I'm doing rock, funk, or reggae, this sucker is the bomb. Matched to a Hartke twin 4-10 cabs and Hartke 2400 head, i can load up anywhere. It is pricey, but oh so worth it. I looking at the Bongo 6 now, but this bad boy is hard to put down.

I'm in the Army band. I've been rocking out in the army for two years now, and playing bass for at least 5 years before that. I'm not the most seasoned player, but I've played a lot of different basses in my time and this one really makes it hard to consider needing/wanting any other bass.

This sucker has a full low end that does NOT stop. A tight mid that has me playing "Express Yourself" almost everytime I pick it up because it's such a strong, punchy mid! And the highs are like bells: clear and pure. When I first tested this bass I turned to my girlfriend and said," Did you hear that?!" "Hear...what?" "This note! Seriously, check this out!", and I kid you not, I probably just sat there playing a high "A" for 5 minutes straight. I couldn't believe the sound I was getting!
The range sonically and melodically is outstanding, and overall this is just a very nice package! I have played this bass in every style, I toured it in the states, I brought it on deployment to Afghanistan, and it doesn't quit! This bass made me sell the other 5 basses I owned. Some of which had serious sentimental value...this just didn't come close to this bass!

It's a big price, but you get a WHOLE lot of bass!

I am biased as a working musician and bassist. Anyone that plays the low end can tell you all of our gear is way pricier to our guitar-bretherin's prices in most everything. That being said it's common to see a 5 string costing several hundred dollars more than its 4 string counterpart.

I got my MM Stingray5 HH used, it was half the price and played better than the freshly opened MM's on the wall that day. If the price I payed was the price everyone played, we'd all be rocking this beauty. That being said, really, the bass is worth the price. If I had to pay full price, I would have. This bass does everything.

Back in the funk era, i saw Lou Johnson and others playing the Music Man and the sound that they produced had me lusting for one for years. So when I could afford it, I bought a 5 string Stingray HH and everything I imagined was totally true. I absolutely love it.I own a '62 pre-CBS Jazz, and Ibanez Silletto, a Kay acoustic 5 string upright and a Stagg electric upright, and except for the Stagg, the rest now live in my storage room. The MM is so powerful, great action, and the flexibility to go from soft jazz, right to string popping funk is a dream come true. Buy one...you won't be disappointed

great bass. excellent tone, best i have ever gotten out of any bass. I own this one along with a 5 string warwick corvette. I cannot explain how amazing the tone from this bass is. The humbuckers really kick up the tone, and they are active, so you really get a fuller sound. The main problem is the neck. I got the neck intonated and within the following week it was right back where it started. Almost every fret has horrible fret buzz, which you can hear no matter what you are playing through. Not to mention that the 5th string has ABSOLUTELY no sustain. Amazing tone, but i would go for a 4 string, and would immediately look into replacing the neck.

Picked it up and played it at the store and fell in love with it right away. color was not exactly what i wanted (black/black/rosewood) but who cares. the neck is extremely easy, easier than my geddy lee jazz to an extent. action was great from the factory but a lil adjustment here or there was normal. Surprisingly easy to slap. Live playing is a great experince because i can be heard! especially thru an SVT-4/2x-410 rig. the B is piano- clear and the highs pop right out and the 5-way is the best for on-the-fly adjustments. 5/5 for features because the controls handle everything broadly and precisely as well as the tuning machines, bridge and other hardware are great. this also attributes to the quality. 4.5 for value because you do have to spend but thats everything really but its worth it. Overall, always room for improvement. it has made its home as my primary bass and is highly recommended for those looking for a professional intrument.

I knew tons of famous bassists used it and I figured there had to be a reason why, and I was quite right.I've played and owned tons of basses and this one eclipses all of them (with the exception of an ooooollllld Gibson Thunderbird).I've used it for several projects I've been in and its definitely versatile.
