Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Classic Sabre Electric Bass:

Having played on a 1987 sabre bass for about 15 years, I figured I'd give my two cents ...
It actually does sound pretty close to mine - not identical, but great tone none the less. The feel of the bass is very familiar to that of mine, although the glossy neck back doesn't feel near as comfortable as the worn out back of my own but that only comes with time and use, or sandpaper. The craftsmanship seemed really good, knobs felt solid and all that. The tone is great, fendery with some meat on it. It's really been a do anything bass for me for a long time, and If one of these were worn in a little, it would probably play like a dream. Really solid, two thumbs up, great remake of the original.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Classic Sabre Electric Bass:

This is my fourth Music Man bass, my first was a 90's Stingray, which was one my main basses
I used in addition to a 78 Jazz and RIC 4003 back in the 90's NYC club circuit. I started playing again in original bands again and just recently and bought a Sterling 4 string which was on closeout, and is my go to bass these days and for all intensive purposes my Jazz bass has been retired. I remember seeing vintage Sabres come up for sale every once in a while but the price stopped me from pulling the trigger, but Ernie Ball brought these back and it was at price I couldn't resist I had to go for it. I love the sound of the 16 pole humbucker and neck feels awesome and is much lighter than a vintage Sabre. Music Man instruments have always made high quality instruments since I've been using them, and this one probably won't be my last, thinking of going to a five string and the Sterling 5 is at the top of my list at this moment.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Classic Sabre Electric Bass:

I owned an original Sabre back in the mid 80's and this is a much nicer bass over all. The sound and playability are great and it's much lighter than the original. The five way pickup selector gives you four great sounds (position 4 that gives you one coil of the neck pickup is so weak it's useless IMHO). I love MusicMan basses and this one is a keeper for sure. I would buy it again in a heart beat.

Comments about Ernie Ball Music Man Classic Sabre Electric Bass:

Stopped into my local music store with the intent to purchase a Musicman Stingray. Just checking out the gear I noticed a used Sabre bass classic. Keep in mind I had a Stingray picked out and ready to go but decided to play this while waiting for the sales guy. Wow, this bass was the real deal! Gave me every tone I wanted, sleek and sexy look, the Birdseye neck was awesome and I just couldn't put it down. Although the salesman did his best to change my mind I decided not to buy the Stingray. I did want a new one so the used model I played was a no go. Found an open box Sabre on MF and grabbed it! I didn't realize the Sabre was discontinued in 2015 so I'd say find one and snatch it up. IMO, it's sexier, lighter that the Stingray plus it sounds just as good, slightly better!
