OVERVIEW

(Open Box) A uniquely designed 6-string featuring Multi-Scale frets and incredible tone.

To the newcomer, the multi-scale concept may appear a bit unusual, but the biggest surprise may be how comfortable players become within a minute or two of playing the instrument. The different fret-to-bridge distances enhance tonality, creating a better sounding bass. Previously, these instruments were only available from boutique bass builders, but now Ibanez is proud to introduce the SRFF806 Multi-Scale bass at an affordable price.

The goal of the multi-scale system is to give the better tension of each string. The tension helps to create a more alive, open tone. On the SRFF806, the scale length is 33.6 in. on the C-string side, expanding to 35.5 in. at the low B.

Although the multi-scale neck can appear intimidating and unnatural, nothing could be further from the truth. When looking down at the neck from the players perspective, the exaggerated fret layout seems to almost disappear and actually feels quite normal. Its multi-scale frets ergonomically complement the angle of a player's hand as it moves up and down the neck, facilitating quick, comfortable playing.

The SRFF806 is a quality instrument designed for the experienced, seasoned musician. Its ash body is attached to a 5-piece jatoba/bubinga SRFF6 neck with a rosewood fretboard, medium frets and custom fretted inlays. The Mono-Rail V bridge is the perfect match for a multi-scale instrument, allowing for independent positioning of each strings mini-bridge section to providing excellent intonation and superior string vibration transference. Electronics include Bartolini BH1-5 pickups, for a full-range, warm, punchy tone, and a 3-band EQ with bypass switch and mid-frequency switch for complete sonic control.

Comments about Ibanez SRFF806 Multi-Scale Six-String Electric Bass Guitar:

I'm glad I waited for the six-string version of this bass to come out. With the 35.5-inch low B scale, the B is as clear and well defined as any other string on the instrument, no muddiness at all. I had NO issues or concerns getting used to the fanned frets and the multiple scales, none at all. it just came naturally to me. Don't anyone be afraid to try this bass. You will not be disappointed. Mine has great craftwork and attention to detail. The strings are a bit farther apart than I expected, but I'm also used to a Conklin GT-7. Playability is top-notch for me. I highly recommend trying out one of these big babies.

Comments about Ibanez SRFF806 Multi-Scale Six-String Electric Bass Guitar:

I bought this new from a local store a little while back. It has a gorgeous finish, looks very nice, feels solid. However - the pickups have an extremely bland "hi-fi" sort of tone to them, and no amount of eq-ing can take that away (I bought it thinking that I could, silly me). The neck is nice and thin, but it is wider than I would like, and I am definitely not a fan of the fanned frets. I find the low registers extremely uncomfortable to play in, especially on the B string, as the stretch between frets gets quite large there. Additionally, the C string is louder than all the others, despite it being at the same height and the pickups being flat. It is very shrill and piercing, and is very hard to tame.

Comments about Ibanez SRFF806 Multi-Scale Six-String Electric Bass Guitar:

This girl plays great and is very comfortable. The fanned frets took about 30 seconds to get used to and the active eq sounds great. This purchase was a "scratch and dent" so I did need to set it up due to action height, fret buzz, and just basic personal preference. The biggest complain I have is it was listed "scratch and dent" because of a small ding on the back of the body however they failed to mention the volume pot did not work. 5 doll hairs later it was good as new but that would have been nice to know!

Comments about Ibanez SRFF806 Multi-Scale Six-String Electric Bass Guitar:

While I had looked at the fanned fret design, I had decided against it. My wife bought it for me for Christmas, and after only a few minuets it felt natural. Tone is excellent, so much that even at low volume, I shook our stage monitors off of the subs. My first six string bass, I'll keep it, and now my son has my 23 year old SR405.
