I was in the market to fullfill my six-stringed fantasy. Finally after years of listening to the likes of Les Claypool and Oteil Burbridge, I too would sucumb to this most sacred of bass fetishes. After some research I found out that most 6-strings were horribly expensive, until I stumbled upon the Grind. Reasonably priced & a name that I've grown to trust over the years as far as speakers & monitors, now also applies to basses as far as i'm concerned. The looks were good, materials were quality. The standard passive pick-ups were the only change I've made, replaced with 18-volt active EMGs. Now it doesn't just pull the sound off the strings, it beats the crap out of it, heaves it into a ditch and leaves it for dead, and with a neck as thick as a crusty, vulgar marine drill sargent it has the apple-bags to do it. I'm not sayin it will work for every body, but it has worked for me. Surprising quality for less coin. Thats my story and i'm stickin to it.

This bass is meadiocre at best. My biggest complaint is with the fret ends. I honesltly think they couldnt get any worse. I have long nails for classical guitar and the fret ends tore them up when i went to go tap on the neck. Also, in my neck there is a knot, and the milling of the neck heel is really sloppy. If you are a mediocre musician who is just looking for a deal, go for it. But if you are looking for somthing truly awsome, stay far away.

Greatest 6 String EVER!!!!

I just got this bass and by far, it is the finest I've ever played. The tone is incredible. No matter what style you play or what kind of music you play, this bass does it all and the sound is never compromised.it can do the lowest riffs, do a funky slap, and play greatly through my distortion pedal. I play using a Fab distortion pedal with a peavey 110 bass amp and it sounds great. Its a monster deal and i strongly recommend it for professionals and beginner 6 stringers alike. BUY IT!!

Pretty damn satisfied(after some work)

I have played 6 string bass for over 20 years so a crappy bass just will not do for me. When I recieved my Grind-6 I did notice the problem with the fret edges being rough but a small file and some steel wool took care of that. I also rewired it to have a master volume and a pickup selector switch instead of separate volume controls. After that I like it so much that it became my main bass even though it costs a fraction of what my American made Washburn Bantam cost. Bottom line, if you don't mind doing the final finish work yourself its a pretty good deal.

Not bad, good for the price though.

I went in to buy a 4-string to go along w/my 5-string ESP F-255. I couldn't find a bass I was really happy with so I thought I'd give a 6-string a shot. I was impressed. The neck is smooth and easy to play, even for a new 6-string player. It took me about 10 minutes to get used to it and I haven't looked back. If you have a little more, I'd suggest getting the Ibanez 6-string w/Elixir strings and Bartolini pickups, but for the money this one is the best. The EQ is something to get ecstatic about, but that's what you have a head for. You might want to play with the action, I'm actually going to lower mine a tad. If want to do more w/a bass, and don't want to spend more than this, go with this one.

Peavey Grind 6~

By Bassy Mike

from California

I think this bass is one terrific bass. If you are into death metal or any kind of metal, and your looking for more options in tone or playability, this is the right bass for you! I LOVE this bass so much, it is my best and favorite. Plenty of treble and bass to get that grindy metal sound. Its also good for slap, or even tapping I slowly found out. The neck is VERY smooth and fast.Even though the pups are passive, they still supply you with plenty of power.. no joke haha. But you might want to upgrade to some actives, but again, your going to be fine with these pickups. Overall this is the best bass i have ever played in a long time, and the best price for a 6 string. You just can't beat it~Get one now my brothers!!!!You wont regret it ; ]

complete crap!

By Altrockbass17

from Midland, MI

this guitar is worthless. the only thing id say i liked was the wood they used for the body, but that doesnt credit it at all. the electronics dont have a very large range of tone, and the neck is huge, even for a six string. dont even waste your time with this thing. save your money and buy a bass from Ibanez or Spector if you want a good 6-string.

This bass had far too many defects. Poor quality control on an otherwise very nice bass.

Uno strumento sorprendente. i due pu kap sanno urlare. e le possibili variazioni su i toni e su i due volumi, lo rendono efficace in ogni performans. dal jazz al fusion al rock. Per me' una vera sorpresa questo grind a 6 stringhe.

It's not fretless but damnit it's good....

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I've recorded with my newly purchased Grind and the tones are nice and rich while not muddy and that B string is nice and low without overpowering the mix and booming things up. My only problem with it at this point is that the frets are scratching up my fingers as they hang off the neck a bit and need to be filed down to make it smooth. Once that's done I can't imagine not being happy with it. It's good for groving that's for damn sure.

a great bass, budget or not...

By [FEZ]

See all my reviews

I have just spent the past few weeks mulling over whether or not to get a grind six, and after weeks of contemplating i've finally decided to get one. i have played three of these monsters, and i have picked out the one i want. i was between a ken smith, and two other "no less than $****" basses, and this is the one i have decided to settle with. i own basses ranging from free to nearly $10,000, and the grind is going to be my main go to bass once i get it. if you are getting mixed reviews, i suggest you play the specific instrument you are going to buy. that makes it easier than waiting to find out that you got the short end of the stick on QC. i don't like the factory steel strings, but that's changable. other than that, i'm more than pleased.

Greatest 6-string at such a price

By RokDiablo1975

from Ponce,Puerto Rico

I've been playing bass for over 15 years now and I've always been on a budget, so when this opportunity came, I had to go for it. I've played 6-strings before, but none feel as comfortable as this one. That's what I love about it. And the construction in great too; this is the first time I've seen a 6-string with a string-through construction. Such a feature really makes a difference in its sound. You can bet that this bass is going to be my main bass for another 15 years in my music.Att.Roberto RodriguezPonce, Puerto Rico

Needs a little work

By Crozzo

from DelMarVa

I bought this used, as-is. The nut is too low and I have to shim the two low strings up to clear the frets - that can be easily fixed. The neck is very thin and maybe a little wide for my pudgy little mitts, but I can live with it. And the fret ends need to dressed up, after about two sets the side of my index finger starts to get sore. Running the bass direct, it cuts through loud and clear, according to the sound man anyway. All in all, it was a pretty good deal for a used bass, but I would not have bought it new unless the work to the frets and the nut was included. Not major defects, but maybe indicative of a certain lack of QC.

Good Bass for the value

By K.Rose

Can't beat this one here. I use it for Gospel and Jazz and it sounds great for a passive bass. I transitioned to a six, and this was a great move for me. Great price, and a decent quality bass for the money.

tap, touch, pick, pluck...

By DarthBassist

from Traverse City, MI

This bass handles any and all styles and techniques. It doesn't matter if you're just doing some half-note back-up bass line or shredding it, the sound is not compromised. Playing the sort of music I play, I needed a bass that handle live performances as well. After playing it upside down, on my back, in the crowd and running into the drums, It sounds and looks like new.

Absolutely Beautiful!!!

This is the most beautiful bass I have ever played. Action is absolutely perfect and the neck through body is stunning! Will play slow mellow songs and turn around to throw down a funky slap rhythm. Perfect.

awesome bass

By bmn405

this is one of the cheapest six strings you can buy but has one of the best sounds. I've been playing for 6 years now and only on four string basses but this step up was suprisingly easy after getting used to the bigger neck.

Crap!

By LesClaypool1337

This is the worst bass i have ever played! Im not joking at all. The crappiest Ibanez is way better than this pile! I would recommend that you save your money and buy a better bass from this site for a little more money. Please don't buy it.
