Comments about Peavey Grind Bass Guitar 5 BXP NTB:
I don't give out full stars easily. The only thing this bass is lacking is active electronics, but that is a personal preference I know. I went from a junk Fender Squire P-Bass to this five string Grind and I never looked back. It was a bit of a change going from 4 to 5 strings, but the ability to stay in position is amazing! I got this used at Guitar Center for 250 and I thought that was a great deal because they really don't carry any basses I consider "superb" quality. I picked it up because it was cheap and played nice, but didn't expect to keep it for more than a year or so. I have been nothing more than impressed by this bass as I have played it over the years and with a set of Rotosound Swing Bass 66's, untouchable in the tone department. I will put active electronics in it, but for a intermediate and up bass, this is superb.
The Peavey Grind 5 BXP NTB is a five string passive bass with separate volume and tone for each pickup. The neck is long but makes a nice balance so it feels good on stage. The top horn is great to grab onto if need be. Since it is a neck-through it has absolutely beautiful tone and sustain and the bottom cut-away lets you access all the frets easily, which I use quite often. The bridge is five individual saddles that allow you to string through body or standard and they are a little hard to adjust for intonation. I use string-through and I set the intonation and she hasn't moved on me since I set her up, but it is a little confusing to figure out. The tuners are decent and the pickups are kind of mid-range based, but for the 250 I got it for, no complaints. For more money, I would change out tuners and put in active electronics, but that is all.
This bass is SOLID! I have no complaints about the quality of this instrument. If your looking for a more Mid-range pickup sound, this thing is 100% perfect. The entire bass feels great to play and I have had no problems with the hardware, etc on this bass.
Can not touch this bass for the money in my opinion. I've played more expensive basses such as deans and Musicmen, but the only bass I might like more is the Peavey Cirrus Bass because it comes with active electronics. But the looks and playability is unbelievable and I would replace it if lost or stolen in a heartbeat and I would have to pick up another one as a back up.

This is a really great bass for the money. This is my first 5 string and was supprised how good it sounds and plays.
Comments about Peavey Grind Bass Guitar 5 BXP NTB:
I got this bass a couple months ago used and just played a show with it yesterday. I just love this bass for it's somewhat dark and soft tone with a bit of punch at the beginning that I can't seem to get with other basses. The only thing I dislike would be that its output is fairly low. When I first got it I was disappointed not realizing how bad the string were, (probably 10 years old). But once replaced with new, lighter strings I fell in love. This bass is perfect for most types of music, getting anything from a punchy tone to a subtle dark tone. However it isn't the best for slap bass, lacking active pickups.

I have had this bass since the fall of 2004!! Everytime I pick up another one they sound great at first but the feel and warm sound from the grind really sucks me back in. Absolutely the best bang for the buck, and has a sound that will last the test of time.

I got my grind last year as my first bass and I love it!! The sound is rich and full, and the feel is fantastic. The only thing missing is active pickups. The Passive humbucking pickups do not work for every type of music (you just can't shape the tone that much). But like a child I will never sale it! It is the best bass you can buy for the money and is a great foundation for any basses. It is that "old friend" you will always reach for. I am thinking of changing it over to a pair of EMG-40DC active pickups & bartolini pre-amp, so that I never need another bass. Also, don't use heavey stings in the though-body position or just stay with medimum strings. Don't let this bass get away!!
Comments about Peavey Grind Bass Guitar 5 BXP NTB:
For starters, this thing is amazing for its price. The neck thru construction adds a very "warm, rounded" sound alnong with increased tuning stability. I dropped mine at a gig once and it didn't fall out of tune. The action is perfect, I tune down 2 steps to G C G C D and I have NO fret buzz at all. String spacing is perfect, the neck is comfortable, the balance is almost perfect a bit body heavy but I like it.Go for the Grind you won't regret it at all.
Comments about Peavey Grind Bass Guitar 5 BXP NTB:
It has a very warm, woody sound, and is super comfortable for a 5-string bass, in fact, I'm now becoming predominantly a 5-string player, I love the looks and playablility of this bass, and the tone, you have to hear for yourself to believe. I highly recommend having it professionally set up, as when I bought it, it was tuned to Standard E tuning and when I tuned down a half a step, it gave me all kinds of fret buzz, but now it is absolutely wonderful, buy with confidence, and just try to put it down!

I purchased a Grind after playing a 65 Fender J Bass for a number of years. I am impressed with the wood sound and the clarity of the lows. You need a good quality bass amp though. I usually play through 4-10's and a sub on stage and have never been disappointed with the Grind.
Comments about Peavey Grind Bass Guitar 5 BXP NTB:
This was my second bass after two years of playing a P-Bass. It was my first 5-string and had a larger neck than anything I'd played previously. After getting used to its size, the Grind bass quickly became my go-to instrument. For the price, this bass rocks hard. It has rumbling lows and crisp highs, and I got chills the first time I plucked that low-B. This is a tremendous instrument with great versatility of sound. It even comes out-of-the-box with some solid factory pickups and strings. I highly recommend it for rookies looking for their first 5-string, or veterans wanting to try something new and affordable. After two and-a-half years, I'm still thrashing away on this thing.
Comments about Peavey Grind Bass Guitar 5 BXP NTB:
I'm actually mainly a drummer, but I've been playing bass for several years now as well. After a TON of research, I bought this bass because of the amount of features and quality (features you simply WON'T find on any other bass in the category) that it had for the price. For all its faults, you will simply not find another bass in this price range that compares (and I've played Ibanez, Dean, LTD/ESP, Rockbass, and Fender all in the same category). As a drummer who's played with many bassists with pro-quality gear, I know what a good bass sounds like, and, having played on a lot of 2,3,4000$ basses, I know what a good one plays like too. This bass has KILLER tone for the money. It really holds up on stage, especially if you have a half-way decent amp, and sounds incredible. The low B really does growl, and the controls are just what you need, nothing more (unless you're doing crazy sound modulation). My only complaint is that it doesn't have active electronics, but what do you expect, it's an inexpensive neck through bass, and still sounds plenty clear. I highly recommend it.
