the Peavey looks incredible!!! and sounds even better !
I normally play and love my Steinburger 4 string.
I was worried that this bass would not have the Steinburger bite ...

I was wrong...

It has all the punch, all the tone, and more importantly all the BITE!!!

The three band EQ is nice, Easy to custom shape Your sound.

Main complaint is the low B string really doesn't sound as good when compared to a more expensive 5 string bass. Also, the three tone eq's aren't that great either. Having said the bad things first, you also have to keep in mind this is quite inexpensive for a decent 5 string bass, and like most Peavey equipment I've owned in the past, they last forever and are very dependable. After the warranty is over, I will probably change out the tone pots and put a better pot than what they have. I do like the pick-ups and it does play very smooth and easy one the fingers. The bottom line is: you can't expect an expensive sound from a bass at this price, so again for the money it's hard to beat.

I Like It!

Comments about Peavey Millennium 5 AC BXP 5-String Bass Quilt Top:

I have owned and played this bass nearly every day for about three years. I love the close string spacing. I have small hands and it helps. The tone is great and everyone comments on how good the Tigers Eye finish looks. The only negative point would be the tuners. I have had to replace three of the tuners so far. For just a couple of bucks more they could have used a better quality tuner.

Comments about Peavey Millennium 5 AC BXP 5-String Bass Quilt Top:

Sounds absolutely amazing, mine however did come with a bad B string. That's only a 10$ fix though so it was no hassle, but nevertheless it's a great bass for the price. I highly recommend this bass to anyone who is already playing a 5 string or looking to upgrade to a 5 string.

Awesome Bass!

By Kanchana Srinivasaraghavan

Comments about Peavey Millennium 5 AC BXP 5-String Bass Quilt Top:

Has great control. The fact that it actually has a 3 band equalizer helps to really find the sound you want. Plus the pickups are great. You can also string this bass two different ways.

The bass is pretty solid with good build quality. I've only had a problem with the part that holds the string near the bridge coming lose. So if you do any adjusting in this area be sure you're careful.

The bass is a bit pricey, but I think it is well worth the cost. It has the features and quality to back it up.

Overall, this is an excellent bass and definitely recommend getting one. I have had this bass for about 3.5 years. I have made many recordings with this bass. The pickups make this bass sound crystal clear when I record using Ableton. I play a variety of music ranging from metal to bluegrass, to folk. The fact that I have active pickups on the bass allow me to change the tone to suit any of these genres. I would definitely buy this bass again.

One note: I bought the Black Violet color. The bass is not actually as dark purple as the color suggests. It still is purple but just a bit lighter.

Comments about Peavey Millennium 5 AC BXP 5-String Bass Quilt Top:

I am very pleased with this bass. Right out of the box, it was set-up very nicely. I have been unable to find anything that needs to be adjusted. The neck is right, the action is good, the intonation is good. The finish seems to be flawless. It stays in tune. I got the Black Violet finish, which is more red than I was thinking it would be, but I still like it. The color is the same all around the instrument, very handsome. Of course the headstock is black, and it has a nice satin finish maple neck. Very adjustable preamp, the treble control is very hissy when turned full up, but I don't play the styles that warrant a bright sound, so it doesn't bother me a bit.I ordered the Musicians Gear black molded economy case, and it fits perfectly in that case. I'm very happy with this purchase, and with Peavey for such a great bass at a reasonable price.

This is definitely a great bass, but not just for the price; not only because it's a cheaper five string, but it matches higher end five strings. The action on it is absolutely wonderful, and this makes it easy to play. The strings give off really good tone whether playing electrically or unplugged. Overall, it is just a really great bass and anyone would enjoy playing it.

Comments about Peavey Millennium 5 AC BXP 5-String Bass Quilt Top:

If you are liking the sound of the Peavey Cirrus basses and don't have the money to spend on those, this is a great option. Sure, it's not the super exotic wood of a cirrus, but it has what counts: The Cirrus Electronics. It's a blue-collar bass construction that lasts. I've been gigging with mine for a while and the only problem I've had is it's suffering from a dirty blend pot, which can cut out the sound completely (Which I'll take blame for, it had some neglect over it's use). I'm looking for eventually stepping into a Cirrus once I get a little more cash, but for now the Milleniums are a great workhorse even for an experienced Bassist.

Comments about Peavey Millennium 5 AC BXP 5-String Bass Quilt Top:

A decent bass. Solid for a Peavey. The only complaints I have is the flap of the low B string due to the 34 inch scale length and that when I drop my action real low I get a lot of string buzz. Overall this is a solid bass for an aspiring artist.

This is my first bass, but I do play guitar and am used to listening to other bass players in the band. I've only had this bass a few weeks, have it set up with a Carvin amp and I love the tone! Very clear, deep, no buzz, holds it's tuning very well too. Wasn't sure how it was going to feel going from guitar to bass, but it is very comfortable to play… And it's looks are a bonus, gorgeous woodgrain pattern!

This bass is very good for any type of playing. I myself use it for metal and the neck is very easy to move across making my style of playing heaven. This bass is very good for what its worth, if you are new to bass and think that it won't be AMAZING since peavey is moslty amp work you will be blown away. The tone is amazing, the neck is sold and thin, all in all an amzing bass.

Comments about Peavey Millennium 5 AC BXP 5-String Bass Quilt Top:

I'm mainly a rock/metal guitarist and I wanted to buy a bass that would last because I wanted to expand my possibilities. I highly recommend this bass to anyone, except a professional or someone who mainly plays bass might want something more expensive. The only negative thing I have to say about it is that with the quilt-top finish (I have the transparent black), it's hard to even tell if it is a quilt-top if you aren't very close to it and you aren't looking in the light. But overall, amazing instrument.

Comments about Peavey Millennium 5 AC BXP 5-String Bass Quilt Top:

Quite definitely, this bass is entirely wonderful for the price. True, more expensive basses sound marginally better, but this is a valuable bass far beyond in quality for the price tag.Immediately, one can notice the neck and its smoothness. The integrated tone controls make this such a powerful piece of versatility. Change the strings and you have a piece of quality bass work.Ok, so the pick ups are active. And yes, I usually have to recharge my batteries before every gig. But guess what, thats the sacrifice for the incredible sound coming from those babies. Overall, wonderful bass for the active, rugged player, regardless of your genre.

Comments about Peavey Millennium 5 AC BXP 5-String Bass Quilt Top:

Been playing about 6 years now and have always used Peavey. I also own the passive model of the bxp so switching to the ac was well... not even like switching at all. Just had to get used to the awesome sounds that these cirrus pickups put out.... they are truly incredible. if you want low, you got it. if you want shaping mid, it's great. if you want very respectable tinny sounds out of your higher pop sounds...nothing surpasses it. ALL IN ALL IT IS AN AWESEOME BASS!!!

        Good for the money

        By El Calvo

        from New England

Comments about Peavey Millennium 5 AC BXP 5-String Bass Quilt Top:

Let's face it. For less than $400, you shouldn't expect world-class out of any guitar or bass worth its salt. That said, this instrument is not bad at all, and definitely has good qualities to it. It is quite comfortable on the shoulder and very playable, adn the controls are easy to manage. The active pickups are solid and very versatile, and the tone is good (once you get past the issues outlined below). Those are the pluses. The negatives: 1) Poor factory setup. I had to tighten virtually every fastener right off the bat. 2) Horrible strings. Order a decent set (I prefer Markleys) with the bass and replace the stock strings inmediatamente. 3) Odd rippling to the finish, due to poor sanding of the top lamination. Also, with no option to switch to passive mode, make sure you always have a fresh pair of 9-volts on hand. Overall, I am satisfied for what I am using it for now, although I will be upgrading soon and demoting mine to private practice status. I've been playing bass for 31 years; take my comments for what they're worth.

When I bought this bass, I was still using a 20 watt guitar amp. As soon as I plugged it in, I realized that it was such a shame to have such a killer bass and such a worthless amp. Amazing tone, boooming bottom string, easy to play - what's not to love?

Comments about Peavey Millennium 5 AC BXP 5-String Bass Quilt Top:

It's an alright bass however it burns up 9v batteries quick, making you take out the screws for the cover plate a million times until they strip, then you leave the plate open, then you buy rechargeables, and they're so slim they hang out of the bass causing the cables on the 9v hookups to break, can't solder them either...
