Comments about Peavey Millennium 5 BXP Electric Bass:
This was my first bass guitar. I was in the market for a 5 string, because some of my favorite bands also played on 5 string basses. I ordered this bass because it was affordable, and it fit my needs, or at least what I wanted. To be honest, it's OK for a first bass, but after some more extensive research, I've found some equally affordable entry-level basses that I would deem to be better.
The finish is good, and the neck is excellent, but overall, the bass has mediocre craftsmanship. the frets were uneven, the bridge is rather low-quality, and the pickups weren't even fully screwed in. Then, there is by far the biggest problem of all: the input jack. It will fall apart on you. I've never dropped the bass (no dubstep pun intended.) before, or even hit it hard on a surface, but the washers on the input jack will becme loose, and it might fall off if you aren't careful. Luckily, if you don't lose the washer, it's an easy fix. Just coax the jack out a bit with the end of a butter knife, and screw the washers back on with your fingers, and tighten it down with a pair of needlenose pliers.
All in all, it's not a bad bass guitar for the price, but there are others in the price range that I would consider to be marginally better.
