Bought mine new in early 2007, so mine is most likely a 2006 model, but the features are the same regardless. I have the tiger eye finish, and it is absolutely gorgeous! The pictures do NOT do it justice.Ok, so here's what I love about this bass. First and foremost, is the weight! This thing is so light, it's sickening. It's also very comfortable, whether standing, or sitting. You can play this for hours if you have to, and not be sore afterwards-big plus for us older guys! The neck is an absolute joy to play, very comfortable, and it has a nice satin type finish. The truss rod adjustment at the neck is nice, no sprecial tools needed. How does this bass sound? Like a good stock Fender type bass should sound in my humble opinoin. Really good output, with good clarity at the same time. Being single coils, they are prone to buzzing, but when you turn both to equal volume, it does go away! Actually, the control cavity is shielded, so you really won't have an issue with it-I use the neck only 95% of the time. You won't need to change them. Two things to consider; the ability to string thru the body or bridge is really nice. If you string thru the body though, be careful when changing strings, the string ferrules with come right out with it. Not a big deal if you string thru like I do, but if you go thru the bridge, keep those ferrules in a safe place. The tuners are a cheap copy of a Gotoh GB7. They do work, and the bass will stay in tune, but I found the nuts that hold them in liked to come loose sometimes. I don't consider it a problem though, because real Gotoh's, or Hipshot ultralites drop right in. I put on ultralites, everything is great now. This bass is a good buy, no matter what your skill level is. I've had two pro players wonder if it was a custom built bass, thats how good it sounds. Enough said?

This bass is an OK bass. It actually appears to change colors BUT its sound is horribe. It sounds nice for a rock band but for just playing it it vibrates way to much. The appearence is great especially the fret board. I used this with many amps and many picks and it all makes ir sound like it rattles. Playing quiet however reduces some of this rattling sound. Great first time bass if you have never touched any type of guitar but your best Bet is to spend the extra money and get a Fender

Cool blues

By Lawrence Thomas

Comments about Peavey Millennium BXP 4-String Bass Guitar Quilt Top:

I was very suprised with this bass It has a great mellow tone and the neck is incredibly fast. I bought this because my Squier P Bass is really heavy after a while. This Peavey is so light yet still has a deep sound. I bought the blue which is very pretty up close but at a distance simply looks blue. I think I should have bought the sunburst. But I strongly recommend this bass.

After a year...

Comments about Peavey Millennium BXP 4-String Bass Guitar Quilt Top:

I've waited a full year of playing this bass, and I've come to an objective conclusion about it I think. When I got this bass, It was fantastic, I loved it when I got it. The starting strings were decent, I think they were flatwounds. It's rather lightweight and the construction seems great as far as the body is concerned. However, the electronics is where I think they were able to cut costs. These pickups produce some serious noise, particularly when you actually play, and they hum more than they should. If you have enough money, what I would do is change the strings and gut the bass, change the electronics and replace them with Bartolinis, Nordstrands, or whatever suits your tastes. I think you'll be more satisfied with it after that. You may even be able to play huge gigs with it after that without having to buy a second bass. Overall, it's a great beginner bass, the action is wonderful and I would highly recommend it. But unless you're willing to shell out the extra money to buy another bass when the time comes, I would recommend you bring the electronics and strings up to snuff.

Comments about Peavey Millennium BXP 4-String Bass Guitar Quilt Top:

As much as I love my J Bass I longed for something that was lighter on my shoulders. I play while standing and usually go 2-3 hours jamming with my favorite mp3's.

I am almost 70 and just "ain't the spring chicken" I used to be. My J bass really wore on my aging body. I saw the Peavey at my local music store and was immediately attracted to the look, sound and especially the light weight of this very affordable bass.

I play at home only so I cannot relate on how the bass would do in a band situation and surviving the rigors of the road but my guess is that with a bit of care this bass will hold it's own.

I think the quality of build on my bass is excellent and I see a lot of improvement in instruments made offshore. The fit and action suits me fine and I did not need to adjust it at all.

Peavey hit a home run with this lightweight J type bass.

I feel that I got more than my money's worth

Comments about Peavey Millennium BXP 4-String Bass Guitar Quilt Top:

Best bass ever made. Everything the Fender Jazz should have evolved into but never did.

I originally bought my first one as a back-up because it was so ridiculously inexpensive, but it is so excellent that it quickly became my main instrument.

I've been playing bass for 35 years and I've played just about every bass out there and this beats them all. I have owned a half dozen of this model and still have 3 of them that are keepers.

All of mine are the very first generation. I bought my first one from the Friend when they were first introduced. It arrived perfectly built and set up. I've never had to do a thing to it and it still plays great.

Only problem with these is inconsistent build quality. Some of them are perfectly built and set up, others not so much and need adjustment or tweaking. A few of them that have passed through my hands have had quality problems, so it's kind of hit or miss with this model. But if you get one of the good ones you will absolutely love it.

One of the very best features is the light weight, much lighter than a Fender or most other standard basses.

I won't play anything else anymore.

I played this bass right out of the box! i bought the blue one its gorgeous! this bass has a good feel..the fingerboard is good nice and thin.the jazz neck is good. it's light weight and is very balanced not top heavy or anything. the bass needs a little adjustment because its a little fret buzz. but i played a few songs on it right out the box and im very impressed. i have a diamond series shecter which is a very good bass but this peavey will be my new number one! don't let people steer you a way from buying the peavey bass because of the price it's a awesome bass with excellent tone and it's lound! the pickups are fine even the strings that came with my peavey are good. again im very happy and excited because i always wanted a jazz style bass because of the thin neck and pick-up configuration. buy this bass and again i don't care if a bass is super super expensive it still needs to be adjusted. I also would like to just make a comment on some things i read in reviews. one i feel that if you can really play it don't matter what kind of bass it is. pedals and certain types of amps don't make you a good player.the bass strings don't make you a good player, slapping and popping don't make you a good bass player. in my opinion constant practice will make you a good player. learn to read bass music and learn the notes on your bass, learn chord progressions and your scales. take your time and be you on the bass. I hope this helps some of the bass players out there. I love the bass and i have been playing over ten years or so and im still fascinated by the instrument and im constantly growing and learning new things about the bass! my fellow bass players never get satisfied and stop trying to grow in bass playing! don't miss out get the peavey millenium BX4 BUY IT!!!

This bass is a good novice bass for any beginner. It gives you exactly what a novice player will need, but nothing more. The neck has a very nice feel to it and it is easy to move your fingers around on the fretboard. It is a lightweight yet durable instrument as well. This bass has a special bass in my heart since it was my first bass, and I would recommend it as a first or second bass, or just one to add to your arsenal. But it isn't anything special and won't be a primary bass.

      My Main Bass

      By Big Al-ZONxW

      from Houston, PA

Comments about Peavey Millennium BXP 4-String Bass Guitar Quilt Top:

I have been playing bass for 4+ years. This bass was a christmas present about three years ago and I am very happy with it. I only rated the features at a 3.5 because it is bassically a jazz-style bass. Generic but tried and true. The neck on the bass is very thin and comfortable, probably thinner than a fender neck! The heel is very well sculpted and not obtrusivie like most bolt-ons. The tone of this bass is what you would expect from a j-style bass. It is very versatile. I've used it playing both metal and indie-rock and it fits in very well. It works well in various tunings as well. I've tuned it down to C and it cuts through. The only negative things I have to say about this bass are that (1.) The factory strings are not great at all and (2.) It was not set up well when I opened the box. The neck was almost flat and buzzed like crazy. After adjusting the bridge (height adjustment screws became stripped, but still work)and the trusrod, and pickup height, I was able to get it to my liking. Despite the small amount of maintenance when you first get it. It is a great buy. The quilt top on the blue finnish is fantastic! It is my main bass because of its playability, aggressive tone, and sheer beauty. Excellent choice if you are on a budget and looking for an out of the ordinary J-style bass.

Comments about Peavey Millennium BXP 4-String Bass Guitar Quilt Top:

I sold my J Bass due to the heavy weight and was looking for a replacement that'd be kinder to my aging and aching shoulders. I was also looking for a passive system and the Peavey had it.

When I was into the club scene I played through Peavey amps and they were bullet proof so I had confidence in buying one of their products. I wasn't disappointed.

My sunburst model looks as beautiful as it sounds to me. Of course tone is subjective so YMMV but I'll bet you will love this bass.

Peavey hit a home run with this bass, in my opinion

Comments about Peavey Millennium BXP 4-String Bass Guitar Quilt Top:

On the 19th, I will have had this bass for 8 months.Features: It's features are actually quite astonishing. The pictures here aren't quite accurate, nor do they do justice to the looks, it is a great looking bass. It will get you compliments, no doubt. The pickups are great, J-bass like pickups. I wish it had a 3-band EQ though, rather than a tone, but for the price I got it, I can't complain. If you change strings, let me recommend the Peavey Cirrus ones, which are available here.Quality: Like a rock. I've bashed it a few times by accident, it has survived numerous travels back and forth to gigs and home.Value: You will not find a better bass for under $250. I guarantee it.Overall: For the price, I am frankly astounded. With an adjustment of a few things, maybe a change of strings, you've got yourself a professional sound. Beginners particularly, I encourage you to at least try this out.

I love this bass, and use it every day. I got mine at a local music store for $220. The pictures don't do it justice, it's a bloody piece of art. I bought the sunburst one, and its a lot more orange then the picture shows. I don't know if it was just a little defect in mine, but one of the knobs didn't find tight, so I had to slide it off to turn it, not a big deal. It's an amazing bass for the price and I recommend it to everybody.

Best bass you can buy for the money

        from Undisclosed

Comments about Peavey Millennium BXP 4-String Bass Guitar Quilt Top:

Bought this bass as my first a while back. Can't complain about it at all seeing as the price was so affordable. I love the neck. Very thin and fast playing. The pickups aren't bad, for stock pickups on a bass in this price range, they're nothing less than spectacular. The tone shaping isn't too bad, can output quite the variety of different sounds. Only thing I can complain about is the fact that because of the low action, it's always had a lot of buzz too it. It's not usually a problem on the lower frets most of the time, but once you start hitting melodies up on the higher fretboard, say, past the 10th or 12th fret, the buzz can tend to get annoying. That's a problem that can be fixed though. For the price, you aren't going to get a better playing or better sounding bass than this. This blows all the Ibanez, Squiers, Epiphones, and so forth in this price range out of the water with ease. It clearly could be compared to some basses of much higher standing in it's playability and feel.

Great look, and after a little 'playing around' with the bridge, I think we have a winner. It's my son's first bass, and we're both pretty happy with it. I'm an Ibanez fan through-and-through, and I was shocked at how much I liked the tone. Lot of buzz on the first few frets but got it worked out.

Great looking bass, and with proper setup it is great for the price. I love the narrow neck which makes it a joy to play. The electronics seem decent, and sound good with new quality strings. Simple jazz bass electronics makes it easy to service if needed, and the solid simplicity makes it a reliable backup bass. Except for the nut, it seems like good craftmanship.

The nut seemed to be done by hand, and all slots were too narrow, not allowing the strings to move freely, which in turn made it difficult to tune.
Also needed to file fret ends, as they were sticking out slightly, but this is known to happen even with expensive instruments.
