Top-end features from woods to electronics!
Based on the unique design that first brought M.V. Pedulla to prominence, the MVP 5-string bass combines hard-hitting tone with player-friendly ergonomics, making them favorite basses for the stage and studio alike. The MVP is a fretted bass guitar featuring neck-through body construction for superb sustain and tone, plus a sleek and facile neck shape, ebony fingerboard, and a beautifully sculpted flamed maple body. The ergonomic design includes a deep cutaway on the treble side for easy access to all 24 frets, and an extended bass-side horn that provides a perfect balance point when a strap is used.
A three-piece laminated maple neck passes through the entire length of the body, providing maximum focus and sustain. In addition, a double-acting truss rod and two steel stiffening bars in the neck reinforce and maintain stability. The 24-fret ebony fingerboard is inlaid with 5mm pearl dots, and its hardness resists wear and contributes to the MVP's distinctive tone and sustain.

I've played this bass in all types of situations and all types of music. It does it all. I have the 2 soapbar pickups. The fundamental note is very strong. There is a low midrange growl and clear highs. The tone controls allow you to change the levels of lows and highs as needed. I never changed the tone on my Jazz Bass. I do it all the time on this bass. You will be heard with this bass and you'll strongly support the root tones of the music. The low B is extremely powerful and blends perfectly with the upper strings. I use an Eden amp with a 4-10 cabinet. I've been told, at three gigs, one of them outdoors, in two different groups, by musicians that I didn't know very well, that I had the best live bass sound that they've ever heard. These were all 40-50 year olds who have been around the block a few times. I think that says it all when someone walks up to the stage and makes a comment like that. I always get a lot of compliments and people asking what I'm playing. I also own a 6-string fretless Pedulla Thunderbass with soapbars. It's wonderful too, but the MVP is the bass to play in normal situations. Michael V Pedulla is the best (MVP).
This bass does it all, better.
Quality of materials is the best
The best isn't cheap.
I bought my first MVP 5 string 18 years ago and has since bought my second about 5 years ago. I play all styles of music and run it through my SWR SM900, 4-10 goliath along with the 2-10 goliath jr. This bass gives me every tone I need to play funk, jazz and everything in between. Bass players owe it to yourself to go play one of these fine crafted instruments. Pedulla also has a great service dept., I had new guts put in my irst pedulla and it came back like new! I am thrilled to see the Pedulla line finally!
I now own my second Pedulla MVP 5 and I love it. It has a crisp bright high-end, an unbelievable low B with more clarity and definition than most low Es, and Pedulla basses have a low-mid growl that is undescribable. Plus, I love the beautiful sculpted look of the classic Pedulla bass.
The MVP is probably the finest bass guitar in the world. They are not inexpensive, but anything even remotely approaching this quality by any other bass builder is more.
I've been playing bass for the most important part of my life now and it seems no matter where I go and what I play once I get there they simply crumble in comparison to this instrument. Pedulla make it a habit of manufacturing truly exquisite basses but the MVP truly is in a league all it own. The tone first of all is otherworldly you really can dial in any and every tone you can concieve and with the midboost soloing is effortless all you have to do is flip the switch and play. Another amazing aspect of this bass is the action ,right out of the box, you could barely fit a piece of paper underneath the strings, but the incredible part is no fretbuzz, period. Playability aside his bass truly is a work of art the seemless brilliance between the neck and the body coupled with the paint has been known to net me complimants before I even step on the stage. This is my second Pedulla and I'll never play anything else again. Thanks be to Pedulla for making an instrument that really is a joy to play everyday.
