"Modern Vintage" design with classic sound
The Rapture 5-String Bass is Pedulla's "modern vintage" design, with a satin finish bolt-on neck and a pearloid pickguard. The Rapture's thinner, racier design combines a single flatsawn hard maple neck and a solid soft eastern maple body. This combination sets the stage for a classic sound enhanced by a smooth midrange and a bright high-end that cuts through even the most crowded mix.
Specially tailored active electronics bring out the Rapture's unique tonal range. The single pickup (RB-SB) includes master volume and separate bass and treble control knobs to allow complete flexibility in shaping the sound. A mid-cut switch accentuates the Rapture bass' gut shaking sub-bottom while emphasizing high-end clarity and growl and delivering vintage punch with an extra wide attack.
The Rapture has a machined brass "barrel" bridge which imparts the more traditional sound Pedulla wanted from a bolt on.

I recently bought a used Rapture 5 string "JJ" configuration, classy in black with white pearloid pickguard. It has the wider 19 mm spacing at the bridge, which is perfect for those who, like me, grew up on 4-strings.The bass is light and well balanced - a real contrast to my 'Wick thumb 5 NT. The wide, fairly thin neck is very comfortable, frets are well finished, birdseye maple fretboard is stunning. Easy to play even with my smaller than average hands. Two Bartolini jazz pickups are quiet and pack plenty of JB growl with more bottom end that Fenders. Machined chrome-plated brass bridge is vintage looking but very beefy, more like a badass.Tone is classic jazz bass but with more clean bottom end and highs that can cut through when needed. Simple controls belie the fact that there's an active preamp on board; very easy to get the tone you want. Perfect for rock, funk, slap, blues or about anything you want. Deserves to be played through a really decent amp! My only recommendation is to ditch the stainless taperwounds these usually ship with and put on some nice standard nickelwounds for a really classic warm sound.
After own several basses (Ibanez,Yamaha John Patitucci,Fender Jazz Bass,Fender P-bass,Musicman Stingray 5,Tobias Killer B)I have my rapture 5 strings with JJ Pickups and is amazing,is like a jazz bass but much better,if you want something verstatile and for a good price pedulla Rapture is the best choice!
