This bass is absolutly incredible for the price and can not be beat.

The only Issue I had with mine was that the dots that go down the neck on the top of the bass were a little off and if you are a beginner this can be kind of tricky to fix. I had to paint over the dots and then paint my owns dots in the propper places. A little annoying, but well worth it.

I also recommend putting some round wound strings on it. Other then that you should be good to go. I have used this baby in practices all the way up to big shows so its a very good instrument for the price.

I wanted to get into a fretless bass but, not to commit a lot of money. The price was very good but, it took me a lot of work to set the bass up correctly. If I took it to a guitar shop for setup it would have been expensive. Also, when I opened the box, the bass was very dirty.

Problems I found:
1. Poor/sloppy hardware installation
2. Harmonic setup was way off (did not line up with the dots)
3. Nut is way too high. It's hard to finger the position of the first fret.
4. The flat wound strings were kind of dull sounding
5. String height was very off on the E and G string. They buzzed.

Comments about Rogue LX200BF Fretless Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

My everyday fretted bass is a Yamaha TRBX174EW Mango Wood 4-String which is an awesome instrument.

The Rogue LX200BF Fretless Series III to my mind is just as good as my Yamaha albeit much lighter weight. This Rogue is my first go to bass for whenever I want to play fretless.

I examined the bass straight out of the box as soon as it arrived assuming it would need a lot of setup and adjustments before it was playable. I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that was not the case at all. Not only were the fit and finish perfect straight out of the box the instrument was also setup perfectly and ready to play!

The only thing I found less than perfect about this bass were the strings it came with.
The bass arrived with a set of silky smooth flatwounds that looked and felt great but unfortunately didn't sound good. The E sting in fact was totally dead and just came out with a dull "thud" when plucked.
This wasn't a problem for me because most instruments regardless the brand or price typically come with poor quality strings and I was ready for that. Anyway with a quick string change this bass came alive and I couldn't be happier.

In time I may upgrade the pots & pickups but in truth it really isn't necessary they are more than adequate just as they are.

If you are at all interested in a low cost introduction to the fretless world you cannot go wrong giving this Rogue a try. I did and I love it!

Comments about Rogue LX200BF Fretless Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

4 the cash, I LOVE this bass! I will add my own "adjustments", When I gig, I bring my 74 RICK and my CHEAP used rogue bass, Love to play both! GREAT necks!, the fretless is a lil wider, but no learning curve at all!, I just have to round the edge of the fret board a bit, as its a lil sharp .Maybe later, I'll add some high quality PUPS, American hardware, a high-mass bridge, already changed knobs to epi clear speed knobs! Love the look!. Thinking of doing a white pearl "tree of life " thing to the F-board, bone nut, Mines a BEAUTIFUL pearl white!
    HAPPY!!!!

Comments about Rogue LX200BF Fretless Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

I have been playing keyboards (organ, piano and synths) for over 25 years and I've just recently been getting into other rock instruments. Guitars, drums, and bass guitars. After playing on a standard bass, I thought I would like to try my hand at a fretless. Regarding my one con comment, the neck has a very plain finish. For the price, I don't expect a teflon gloss neck finish, but it is all but naked. The fret board itself is smooth and decent quality, but I will probably try something like a gun stock oil. Something that will dry and leave a bit more of a gloss on the neck.

Other than this minor complaint, I can easily recommend this on a value vs. performance scale. The electronics, and pickups seem more than decent. The action is very playable. The low E string that came on the bass was all but dead and worried me at first inspection. A new set of strings and all was fine. One other minor issue on the strings was the bridge. The new strings have a cloth/thread weave at the base of the loop. The weave was so thick, or maybe the feed thru hole in the bridge was too small, but I couldn't feed the low E string thru the bridge until I shaved off a large amount of the thread weave. I wouldn't call it a problem, or at least a problem that can't easily be fixed, but I don't have problem with my other basses or guitars.

If you're an experienced player this is probably not the instrument you want to play at a stadium concert venue. If you're interested at all about learning to play fretless but don't want to spend a lot of money, I would absolutely say give this one a try.

Comments about Rogue LX200BF Fretless Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

I bought this bass when it went on sale with the idea of using it to practice and improve my fretless abilities. I knew I wouldn't play this bass live but thought it would be good enough to improve my overall bass skills. The bass felt good and had a relatively lightweight feel to it. The pickups were pretty weak and the electronics were very poor quality. Like other reviewers have stated, mine had a very muddy dull sounding E string. The A D and G strings has good clarity and were even sounding, but the E was so different it was not really playable. I had to send the bass back because I knew I would never play it given the inconsistencies between strings. This bass might still be an acceptable option for someone just getting started, but I would recommend going with a fretless Squier or SX for not much more money.

Always wanted a frettless bass and figured this would be a good entry point. The bass felt good out of the box and had and attractive finish for a bass of that price. Unfortunately the first sound I hear after plugging the bass into my amp was an annoying grounding hum. Ended up sending the bass back because i didn't feel it was worth the $$ to get it fixed.

Comments about Rogue LX200BF Fretless Series III Electric Bass Guitar:

I was jamming, etc. with my only bass, an Ibanez. Primarily a guitar, keyboard and percussion player, I usually pick up my bass when there are multiple guitar players around. Now, I am pulled toward my fretless often. I couldn't justify spending big $$$ on one, but when MF offered this one, I thought, "What the heck!" Amazing quality, sound and ease of playing for the price. Tuned right up and I slid into it with no learning curve at all. (Thought I'd be lost without frets.) I am no Victor L. Wooten or Jaco (R.I.P) or Tal Wickenfeld, but I'm putting out a sound that I've craved for decades. No down side for me. Love it!

It's a nice starting bass if you're unfamiliar with playing a fretless bass. It plays nicely and the neck has a good feel. The only negative is that the E string has a very flat sound. Overall it's not a bad instrument for the price.
