I bought this bass just to lay down lines behind my guitar recordings and was very surprised. Don't know about problems written on other reviews but mine's been great. Got lucky and scored the metallic charcoal color.

This bass is just made very poorly I've already sent it back the strings were about to break on it when I got it but musicians friend sent me new strings then when I went to have them put on the tuners were all junk and wouldn't work right. This bass is not worth the money even know its a low cost bass

For the money this thing gets the job done well. If you're expecting something higher quality buy something higher quality.
Overall it sounds pretty good. The pick-ups could but a bit stronger but just turn your amp up.
Definitely a great bass for someone looking to get into playing with a small budget.
p.s. The picture shows a black bass (unless the color on my monitor is wrong), but mine is a very deep blue almost purple (not complaining but it may annoy some people).
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This is my first bass as I am a beginner. Cant complain too much about it. Its not heavy and it is really easy to play. The only bad thing is that the jack is loose and you might get a static sound on occasion. Other than that, this is fine, not alot of fret buzz. It has a great sound. I would reccomend this to any beginner or anybody on a budget.

all the notes on the first fret sound absolutley terrible. G#, D#, A#, F, they buzz and just sound aweful, cannot tune where these notes register correctly. I would buy this only if you are not sure if you want to play the bass because the price is right for a throw away instrument. If you are serious about playing bass from the start I would suggest buying a better qaulity electric bass.
