This bass has been sitting around for close to 10 years. Maybe even longer? I originally bought it from Musicians Friend for my Son but he lost interest in wanting to learn an instrument. Long story short I needed to record a bass part but I broke a string on my good bass and didn't have a new set of strings in the studio. There in the corner sat the Rogue just as it always has with the original strings still on it. I couldn't believe how well it played and I was surprised at how good it sounds. Especially considering the age of the strings. The pickups are pretty quiet too which really surprised me. Color me impressed. Now it's not a Fender by any stretch but for the price you can't go wrong with this bass. Whether you're just beginning to play or are an experienced player and need a spare as a back up, the Rogue is a good choice. The track I recorded came out great.

I bought this Rogue SX100B Series II Electric Bass Guitar Regular Candy Apple Red for my son for Christmas and was reminded that although sometimes you get more than you pay for, sometimes you get less... this time it's LESS. For starters the construction is cheap, lightweight and fragile, and I doubt that the machine heads will hold up long as they are binding right out of the box. Now on to playability: the main problem here is the action. Even with the saddle bottomed out it's still way too high. To fix this problem I'll have to shim the neck to bring it up (not a good thing to have to do). Intonation is going to be a beast also but with several hours and some tricks picked up along the years hopefully I can get it close. The electronics are also shotty but I'm not going to replace them because the body's not worth dumping the money in, he'll just have to deal with it. Overall this bass is not worth the low price that it's being sold for. Maybe they have a better model but I doubt it. If you want a beginner bass I'd suggest looking at something besides this one (I'd recommend the Peavey Millennium bass for a starter if you can scrape up the extra cash).
binding machine heads, cheezy electronics, and terrible action and intonation!
lightweight, cheap and fragile... no bass should be fragile
The price is cheap but this model's just not worth the price.

Comments about Rogue SX100B Series II Electric Bass Guitar:

I got for my birthday and I was amazed! It sounds great! Although, their are somethings I didn't like about it. The neck is wider which I don't like. I didn't like the placement of the pegs. It's hard to get around the giant point at the top.

Comments about Rogue SX100B Series II Electric Bass Guitar:

This was the first bass I have gotten and I love it and still play it...It is great for the value and is a good starter bass. My only complaint is that you get a faint buzz when you aren't touching the strings. All in all a good overall bass guitar!

Comments about Rogue SX100B Series II Electric Bass Guitar:

It's great for somebody who just started. Get a better bass. If your good don' t get this.
The tuning pegs break off on the D string. Have to use pliers to tune to it. It's a big pain.
The tone knob really dosen't work. The neck is wide which I really don't like.
The quality fine. It's not bad, but not good. It buzzes which isn't good. It really dosen't sound good.
It's good for the price. For about 100 dollars it's only really for begginers. I kept it for bout a year. Get an Ibanez. There great for the price.

Comments about Rogue SX100B Series II Electric Bass Guitar:

I can't believe its been over 10 years since I started playing. This was my first bass and still my main stick when thumping around the house. It is insanely light with a zippy neck (though I did sand mine to a satin finish, not important for beginners). The tone is bright and punchy rolled full, low and muddy rolled off. However the range is not as dynamic as the travel on the knob would imply, they really could have used a toggle switch. I did have a strap anchor come loose once, but the super glue has held it at least 5 years now. If you're looking for your first bass, a backup, or something to just bang around on, this bass as served as all three for me at one point or another. And it's still serving well.

Comments about Rogue SX100B Series II Electric Bass Guitar:

I don't see why so many people are giving this bass such a bad rap. It's one of the best basses I've ever seen/used. It's sounds great, it's a full 34" and the frets are a great fit for my fingers. The tone knob doesn't work as well as it should (it's basically a switch), but it works for me. The volume knob is good, though. It's also said the neck is wide, but I have big hands and it suits me fine. Sounds great through a wah and overdrive, too.

I've been through the whole "touring" thing. I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had to move back home. I am a drummer building a small studio. I'm not one to use factory anything but I could not even tune to standard without the "D" string snapping. As I was re-stringing I found it was unable to get tight enough to even tune. It felt as if the gears on the tuners were stripped. I called to report the issue and send it back. I was put on hold then disconnected after 30 seconds. So now I'm stuck with this stringless bass.

crappy action, neck too wide, plays terible. need I say more?
I saw this particular rogue bass in a music shop. I enjoy my mandolin and my expectations were high. I plugged in, and found the neck was too wide for a 4-string bass thereby compromising speed and mobility in my playing style. I have played some beginner basses that are in much better quality than this. What a letdown.
All I can say is that there is much better quality basses than this. Don't waste your money.
Best use this guitar to collect dust in a corner or use as an autograph guitar to collect signitures

        Its junk!

        By Robert Pace

        from VA

Comments about Rogue SX100B Series II Electric Bass Guitar:

So bad I sent it back. Here are my thoughts:

Great to see split pickups and double volume/tone at this price point, but almost no options in the tone, really just on/off. Pickups are weak and come set way to high in the body. Paint color is nice (metallic black) but application is poor. Lots of bare spots and chips around areas like the neck joint.

Biggest crime is the total inability to be setup. I was able to adjust the truss with no issue but the action and intonation were a lost cause. The factory action was about .25" with the saddles laying flat on the bridge. So the 4/32" I prefer was not possible. Because of the massive action hight, intonation was not possible. With the saddles in full flat (for the new players, all the way against the back of the bridge) the octave was 450 sharp over the open 440.

Junk even for a cheap bass.
Great to see split pickups and double volume/tone at this price point, but almost no options in the tone, really just on/off. Pickups are weak and come set way to high in the body.

This bass guitar is just what I was looking for! I imagine that if you were an experienced bassist who has played better instruments, you would be more critical of its playability. The bass was in pristine condition, all I had to do was tune it up. Have had no problems as of yet with it staying in tune, or any fret buzz to speak of that wasn't the fault of the new player. I would recommend this bass if you want to give the bass a try without breaking your budget!

I've been playing guitar for over 40 years and never owned a bass. Bought this because the price was right and it looked good. I have enjoyed playing this bass for several years now. Not gonna blow the socks off of anything out there but it is definitely worth the chump change it cost to buy and has reasonably good action. Neck is a bit wide but I've gotten used to that. I can't complain - it is what it is and well worth taking a look at.

Comments about Rogue SX100B Series II Electric Bass Guitar:

I love to collect low price instruments, so I bought a electric guitar, 4 string bass and 5 string bass(everything is the cheapest one in Squier)
This bass is made well than cheapest Squier.(especially fret)
                    I recommend this to starter.
