The Stargazer-4 electric bass from Schecter has all the ingredients needed for massive tone and a killer stage presence. It starts with an ash body with a gorgeous quilted maple top (Dark Vintage Sunburst model only). Its bolt-on maple neck uses five bolt points to ensure stability. The Stargazer-4's rosewood fretboard has 24 X-jumbo frets that will keep your fingers dancing all night.
EMG MMHZ and SJHZ pickups provide the Stargazer-4's tonal palette. The MMHZ is a direct replacement for the original Music Man bass pickups. This pickup is passive and features a dual-coil design for low noise and plenty of output. The SJHZ pickups uses a stacked design with ceramic magnets and a laminated steel core for increased output and lower noise.
This massive Schecter bridge allows you to tailor string tension and feel, with the choice of traditional top-load stringing, thru-body, or a combination of both! Thru-body stringing increases string tension and clarity, which is popular with players tuning below standard.

I have owned much more expensive instruments, they don't come close to the
Schecter Stargazer.
I have owned Ricks. They are as different from each other as they are from any other
bass made. If you get a good one, wow, you have the greatest sounding bass made. The problem
is, any Rick made between 76 and 89 is total garbage, the necks are a mess. The instrument is the
noisiest thing I have ever seen. I gave up, since I can't afford a CS version, and the older ones are
priceless, no one sells Rick bass guitars made in the 60s, get a Stargazer!!. If you have any problems with this guitar it's either your amp or the battery is dead. This is the finest bass I have ever played. I owned an American made Fender Jazz 69. Lost in a fire. That would be the second best bass I owned next to this. You have it all with this instrument. And the Humbucker makes it the quietest bass I have ever played. I can get a Jazz sound, on Birdland or Donna Lee, then turn the knobs and growl like Chris Squire with Heart of the Sunrise. It's the identical top/bottom sonic wall. I couldn't believe how great the action was, pick or fingers, it's a joy. I stuck with black but the antique sunburst is awesome. And at this price, you could own two for the money you would
drop on a Rick. Which will play like an upright accoustic. Shop and compare, play 'em both.
30 years with basses, 3 different Ricks and that is a load of wasted cash, then Schecter comes
along and makes it very simple. Rick should be afraid, and Schecter will be raising that 700$ price tag you watch.

This is one of the best Bass Guitars I ever owned.
The slim neck is Fantastic ( the same as my Schecter C-4 Diamond Series )
The weight of the Guitar is not heavy.
The sound is Super (the low grawl)
The price is right. "in all" you can't beat the value.
Super,super Happy with this 4 String Schecter Stargazer Bass.

ok I'll get this right out in the open first: Do not buy it because you want a Rickenbacker but are tight for cash!I did that very thing and I'll admit this thing has a WAY better neck and is far more comfortable than a Ricky, but that's pretty much where the Stargazer has it beat.First I'll start with the electronics:EMG HZ pickup config is a cool idea but it leaves a large gap in the low end. I started using an EQ pedal in order to put more lows into my sound and try and neutralize the mids and treble i kept on getting. Now don't confuse a high range with growl, this thing doesn't sound similar to a Rick, however I find the pickups to be more versatile. They are active (treble and bass knobs with a blend and the option for coil tapping). So with that being said electronics are pretty decent.In regards to actual playability it is an extremely playable bass. I'm not a big guy and it's a lightweight instrument with a thinner neck than my Jazz bass so smooth sailing in that aspect. No complaints other than the pickups are a little close to the neck and bridge so my slap and pop technique needed a tweek. But other than that all around good.Honestly if you want a Rick hold out. If you want a good $700 bass that is reliable and reputable then get this. I gave a 3.5 because there is better out there for a little bit more ($1000) but this thing will survive anything you throw at it.

The bass is gorgous! Everything right down to the tuning heads and knobs its something worthy enough to bring a tear to your eye. The finish looks awesomes as well, drives you back to the 70s and 80s when it was more commonplace.
The EMG pickups and the Active EQ make his bass ROAR. Plenty of low end and ruff when hooked up to my Kustom 1300HD and Ibanze tsb9.
Its sounds amazing and it looks sorta like a Rickenbaker.
Schecter makes awesome basses (and guitars, from what I have seen), so you really cannot go wrong!
