OVERVIEW

The Damien Elite-4 has you covered in any style from metal all the way to funk.

Schecter's Damien Elite-5 electric bass guitar is a solid piece of quality craftsmanship with an awesome array of unbelievable electronics and amazing woods. Compared to basses with the same features, the Damien Elite-4 can't be beaten for price. It's got the custom shop looks and sound without that inflated custom shop price.

The Damien Elite-5 comes equipped with pro pickups and EQ from EMG. The EMG active B64 E/Q was designed for contouring bass, mid and treble frequencies of bass guitar. It has a tighter filter bandwidth giving a more pronounced effect from each control. The mid-cut of the B64 is perfect for "funk" with its mid-range centered at a lower frequency. Both Bass and Treble controls on the B64 are more selective and don't creep into the mid-range. The EMG MMHZ is a direct replacement for the original Music Man bass pickup. This pickup is passive (without internal pre-amp) and features a dual-coil design for low noise and plenty of output. The MMHZ housing is directly compatible with EMG's entire active MM pickup line. All feature the CS design (ceramic and steel). The CS design has the punch and fullness of the older passive designs along with added brightness for a better-defined tone.

The Damien Elite-5 has got a smooth maple neck perfect for playability and sturdiness. Maple has a uniform grain, it's strong and stable, and it has less reaction from environmental changes than other hardwoods. Its tone is highly reflective, and focuses more energy onto the body wood. Maple transfers a bright tone to the body that complements the warm tones of a mahogany body. Rosewood is naturally oily and works well for any surface that sees frequent human contact, which is why it's the most commonly used wood for fingerboards. The sound is richer in fundamental than Maple because the stray overtones are absorbed into the oily pores.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien Elite-5 Electric Bass Guitar:

I'm a bit skeptical on the negative review about paint running because it's not really painted. Mine is aesthetically perfect, but that is not of as great of a concern compared to action and overall feel which seems very good to me. My only con would be that it is bit big and heavy, but that did not bother me too much. This is a really nice bass.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Damien Elite-5 Electric Bass Guitar:

I have purchased a lot of items off MusiciansFriend over the years, primarily equipment and electronics, however I was reluctant to purchase an instrument.

After purchasing this, I feel strongly I made the right decision. The pickups on this bass guitar are amazing; they provide a lot of depth especially to the lower strings. The tone controls on the body enable me to adjust my tone quick and easily [Which, for playing in collegiate pep band, this is a fantastic ability to have]. The tone is quite heavy on the treble side, which is good for what I do, however some flat-wound or less bright strings would help reduce that.

I have had major success in using this bass guitar for recording sessions in my metal band as well as recordings for other projects.

To sum up my feelings about this instrument:

It is brutal enough for metal, yet subtle enough for everything else.

Arrived with paint run between the pickups and by the jack. Jack wasn't flush with the body because of this.
