This bass has become my go-to bass for everything. My band plays a huge variety of music and it is as simple as turning a knob to get that perfect tone. I feel that this one will last forever because after 2 years of bar and club shows it doesnt show any signs of its age in looks or sound. Simply amazing.
I have owned and played many different brands of basses over the years and the Elite 5 is as good as any i can rememember and better than a lot of the others. Its neck through design combined with the emg pickups and preamp give a rock solid foundation to build from. The controls can be a little confusing at first but i quickly adapted. The finish is simply amazing! I get compliments with this bass before i even plug it in!
This bass is built with a huge attention to detail, evident in the fit of the electronics and finish of the body and neck. A neck through bass with a sweet creme binding seems totally impossible in this price range yet here it is. I have owned this for a couple years now and have never had any issue other than a loose strap button, but that was probably my fault as i installed strap locks myself.
The EMG HZ pups are passive but do possess that famous clarity and low end youd expect. The preamp is amazingly capable for a simple design and battery life is definately at a higher than normal rate as i play it regularly and have only changed the battery 3 times in 2 years. All in all i think this bass has a great many points in its favor for basses costing 2 or 3 times more.

I have a lot of trouble with this bass. The action is pretty terrible. You can adjust it but you're really just trading one annoying thing for another. I don't know if all of them are like this, but mine came with a bent neck, so the action is REALLY high in the middle, and REALLY low at the first few frets, as well as past the 10th fret or so. There's no power whatsoever to the tone. If you like to slide up and down the neck, you'll only be able to hear the first note you put your finger on.
If you like to play with the high C instead of low B, this is not the bass for you. It's an extra-long scale, and there is literally no selection of strings you can buy for it. Only one company (d'addario) makes a set of 6 strings (yes, you have to buy a set of 6 because you can't buy a set of 5 with the high C) that fit an extra-long scale bass, and they only come in one gauge and one tone. They also last about 1 gig. Maybe 2 if you're lucky.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Elite-5 Electric Bass Guitar:
I have the red one and it is stunning. The neck is smooth and very easy to play. I did not have to make any neck adjustments, but lowered the strings a touch for my taste. It sounds fantastic and is my go to bass.
It came with no instructions so it is a bit of a problem trying to figgure out what the controls do. It shouldn't take long. There is a volume (no center indent) a bass, a treble and pickup blend knob.
I have a cheap Schecter guitar that I absolutely love. had been eyeing this bass for several months and when it went on saleI had to have it. I was looking for a bass with neck thru body and 5 stringer. So now I got it.
Workmanship is flawless, smooth as silk. Even my cheap Schecter guitar is very well constructed and easy to play.Very good qualiy control at Schecter.
I bught this when it was on sale. I think it was a steal.
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Elite-5 Electric Bass Guitar:
Like so many have said, this bass needs the extra long strings to go thru the body and reach the nut. It is a long scaled bass. Also, read what you can about the pickups and pre-amp. There is a board with jumpers on it that will allow you to taylor the sound to your liking. I changed mine so the high EQ is wide open on the high frequencies. The bass really bites your head off now with the high tones! I really like this bass. Have had Ricks, Fenders, Yamahas, Ibanez, Epiphone, and it is the best. Took some doodling to get the action the way i like it, but, it is there and plays real nice.
Went shopping for a 5-string and my girlfriend said oh look at that one, it's pretty. I had the salesman take it down and started to play it. It was very nice indeed. Bought it that day.
The finish is very good and the parts were all tight as it was hanging on the wall at the music store. Mine is the Red see-thru finish.
For what you get, this has it all down. Buy this bass.
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Elite-5 Electric Bass Guitar:
I have been wanting a 5 string neck thru bass for some time. I had my eye on this one but could not come up with the extra cash to get it. When I saw it on sale (discontinued model) I had to get it. So far I have not been disappointed. Big sound with lots of choices of tone from eq and 2 pickups. It is, so far the nicest bass I own and I own a few, including Fender and Ibanez. I will be using it a lot for sure.
5 strings, neck thru, string thru body active EQ (2band) volume and mix control. Emg pickups (humbuckers passive)
No flaws excellent workmanship
Since this bass has been discontinued I purchased it very cheap. It was well worth the cash.
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Elite-5 Electric Bass Guitar:
I've had this bass now for about a year. The action on it was a bit high when i bought it, but after a week of use, it came down. Ive used this bass for recording and band playing, along with the pit of a drumline. Expect many years of use.
The stock strings are quite good, but i switched to a flatwound E and B just fo ra more mellow and deep low end.
My treble knob arrived a bit loose, but it's still functional.

After about 6 basses, including the Schecter Custom 5, I think I can say that this is the best bass I have ever played. I have an American Fender P that is a great 4 string bass but for sheer cut-through-the-mix power and clean, fat tone, I think you would be hard pressed to top the Elite 5. There is simply nothing close to it in this price range. You could spend a LOT more and not top this instrument.
Excellent workmanship and a beautiful, rich, deep cherry color. Neck through, string through, EMG pickups, massive bridge, its all there. Try it out. I think you will be surprised at the clean power and tone from the very tight low B all the way up. To say it rocks would be an understatement.
Excellent.
No competion that I can see. Gret value.

This is an awsome bass.Looks great, sounds great and plays great. It came set up perfect but I had to make A couple of minor adjustments after A few weeks,I beleive because of humidity change.I would recomend it to anyone looking for A high end bass without A hefty price. The EMG pickups sound amazing also.
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Elite-5 Electric Bass Guitar:
Got this bass recently. Had to go thru the setup a bit as the truss rod needed to be tightened up to lower the action.(change in the humidity?) The bass requires "super-long" scale strings. The standard long scale strings will not work as the string's winding tapers down before it passes over the nut. Tuners were loose and required tightening. Bridge needed some intonation adjustment on the B and E string. Once done, this guitar plays and feels like a dream. The 9-volt battery requires that you open the back cover with 4 screws. Would have been nice to have an easier way of changing the battery.
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Stiletto Elite-5 Electric Bass Guitar:
I've played bass for a little over three years now. I've owned another Schecter before this, an Omen Five string. I can't believe how well this bass performs. It's fast, smooth, and has a sound for every style. The neck thru body and string thru body bridge gives this baby sustain and tone for ages. And it looks amazing too. I have the See thru Cherry, which is a lot more "red" colored than the picture makes it seem. Looks great though. I had to lower the pick-ups and adjust the action of the neck when I first got it, but pretty petty problems there. I have no complaints so far. I'm playing it through a Behringer rig, and it's sounding really nice. Low end holds down incredibly well. No regrets here.
