Very impressed with this bass. The quality and construction are outstanding for the money. The tone is unique, neither p-bass, j-bass or MM. It has a tone that is a blend of all 3 basses. You are sure to find a tone that suits you.

The EQ is nice, but the bass has a TON of high mid-range. You can tame it easily with the mid pot.

I played it live this weekend with my 17-piece dance band. It sounded fantastic and I received several compliments.

Build quality so poor it had to go back.

Bottom two strings fretted out before the first fret indicating it needed a new nut. Slow down, build it right.

Comments about Squier Deluxe Dimension Bass IV Maple Fingerboard Electric Bass Guitar:

Got this as the SDOTD. I'm a certified guitar tech and have been a giging bassist for nearly 35 years. I own many Fenders and the overall design and build quality of this Squier is mind boggling regardless the price. Looks like Fender recently discontinued it, likely because the quality rivals the US version.

Comments about Squier Deluxe Dimension Bass IV Maple Fingerboard Electric Bass Guitar:

Ok, after owning the red/maple version a month I still really like it but with a few caveats. Squier definitely used cheap materials and fast manufacturing to cut costs. The nut is nicked and made of possibly the cheapest plastic that I've ever seen on a bass that wasn't a First Act. Electronics are bare minimum quality and a little disorganized. The neck is very thin, I know that's a personal preference thing, it feels more like an Ibanez than a Fender. The pickup muddies up very easily and I find myself fiddling a bit more than usual to dial in a good tone. And all tones are modern, hifi. No vintage sounds available. But all in all, it is a useable, great sounding bass for next to nothing. I've used it for recording with excellent result. It works well for most gigging situations as well. I am still a very satisfied purchaser.

Comments about Squier Deluxe Dimension Bass IV Maple Fingerboard Electric Bass Guitar:

I got this bass and knowing that my ezpectations were low so I was prepared to put some qork into it. First off output jack was stereo but Ill get to that later. After opening the box I had everything ready to set it up and set the action plus I tought Ok 45 minute on set up its not that bad. Out of the box bass was perfect I mean really perfectly set up and intonated and height and all that jazz. When I plugged it in then I got to the problem, it would work only half way in. Output was stereo. I was kind of disapointed but I called MF they gave me the credin for a new jack. There was no way I was returning this baby. Bad thing was I had to wait few days to really put it thru the paces due to cut offs with original output. Now it is fixed and ready to roll and man, this is the best playing bass that I own. I do own 10 bass guitars from original fender jazz and gibson eb and ltd d4. This pickup is very well balanced. Eq is very responsive and neck nice and thin. I love everything about this bass that I had to order one with rosewood fretboard. Great bass for the third of the cost, you cant beat that.

Comments about Squier Deluxe Dimension Bass IV Maple Fingerboard Electric Bass Guitar:

I loved everything about this bass but the bass (boost/cut) active EQ knob crackled when rotated and caused the bass to cut out on occasions. So I had to send it back to Musician's Friend for a replacement. I rec'd the replacement in 3 days only to have the replacement bass damaged in shipment. The pick guard was bashed in and the controls were hanging out of the body when I unboxed the bass. I am now waiting for my 3rd bass ( 2nd replacement). My fingers are crossed and I am hoping for a flawless bass this time. I have been playing bass for over 50 years and found this bass to be a real pleasure to play at an extremely affordable price. This bass will definitely be a keeper to add to my already very large guitar, bass and assorted string instrument collection.

Comments about Squier Deluxe Dimension Bass IV Maple Fingerboard Electric Bass Guitar:

I played a MP Dimension when they first came out and was disappointed in the triplebucker. I couldn't find a Squier D to even play for almost a year after it was released. When I finally found one, it was a burst, and though quite heavy, a dream to play, I figured if it was good, the MIM's and USA's would be amazing, so I headed up to CME to play them, and was quite underwhelmed. Only the USA's had the contoured heel of the Squier, and with the 18V preamp, all of them were too hot... Like Fender was trying too hard to out gun MM, and G&L.

I didn't really take to the compound radius on the USA, but I kinda liked the asymmetrical neck shape (but less than the Squier).

I greatly preferred the Squiers' 9V pre, and different pickup, plus the controls respond more like I THINK they should (versus the Fenders'). Luckily, CME had a Squier (burst) to play as well, and I'd decided it was for me. The one they had was dropped, so I picked up a trans red at a local shop, which was a real score, because it was a pound lighter than the burst.

That was three years ago, the Squier D has since become my main player, and I even sold off my Fender Jazz since.
I picked up a burst fiver used as well. While the Squier can get into G&L territory (just), it can also do excellent classic Fender tones (with no hum), something the Fender badged models can't.

Even though the Squier D in Black showed on the Fender site, no one had them in stock until Musicians Friend started listing them in 2016. While I love this bass, it is a bit of an ugly duck, and looks better in black than the other colors, when the black IV hit on the SDOTD a second time in May 2017, I finally got a black one.

I was a bit surprised when I got it, as it's a pound heavier than my trans red IV (the black IV weighs the same as my Burst V). Other than that, it's nearly identical in playability/tone to my trans red... though the intended purchase (for a better looking gigging bass), fell short because of the wei

Comments about Squier Deluxe Dimension Bass IV Maple Fingerboard Electric Bass Guitar:

This is an amazingly good bass for the price. The finish is nearly flawless. The neck has really good fretwork, and plays with ease. I like the smooth poly finish on the neck. The active electronics are quiet, but maybe could have a little more bass boost in the eq. The Dimension bass really has a sound of it's own, more midrange heavy, that cuts through but even with the mids dialed all the way back they are still present so they must be going for this style of sound. The bass came with a pretty good setup and came with good sounding strings. The Fender bridge is a nice addition. Overall a really good bass for a budget price.

Bought as a Deal of the Day. Didn't have high expectations. Bass arrived unplayable. I did a complete set upon the instrument. Then it turned out to be a great investment and a decent player. Tends to be a bit "tinny" sounding, but still quite fun to play.

I bought this because the price was too Stupid to pass. I'm old enough to come from an era that thinks anything from China, Indonesia, or Vietnam is total junk. Well this Indonesian bass is a game changer for me. It looks, sounds and plays great. Of course it's not an American made Fender or on par with a $1500 bass but I'd put it up against any sub 1000 buck bass any day of the week. I'll write an update after I've had it for a while but out of the box, I am more than pleased. Set up nicely, well dressed frets, active pickup is quiet and punchy. I have the transparent red with maple fretboard. I'll gig with it this weekend and report back. Well done Squier folks.

Bought this bass as a SDOTD. I figured it was worth a shot and wouldn't be a huge loss.
Best return I've gotten on a gamble in a while!
Granted there was the dreaded A string buzz. Remedied it right away with a very thin piece of plastic under the string in the nut. I'm sure when I put on a new set of strings and don't cut the string too short, it will be fine.
But the bass plays like butter. The maple fingerboard has the spank that I need for metal and funk. The action is very playable and no fret buzz. (The fret buzz I mentioned in the cons was the open "A" buzz that I remedied). The weight is nice and the finish is absolutely beautiful.
And a five bolt neck joint? Wait, this is a Squier, right?
The sound is amazing for single pickup instrument. Well, I guess it's not really single pickup. but the preamp is one of the best and most responsive I've used in a long time. I was shocked to tell the truth.
Do it if you're thinking about it. Word on the street is that they're being discontinued sometime soon.

I bought this on the SDOTD. The price was low and the merchandise is exceptional. This is the first Squire I have ever bought and I am very impressed. I own Fender, Peavey, Gibson Epiphone and G&L and they all are great basses but I find I am picking this one up when I sit down to play now. It sounds so good!
                              The Red color is beautiful.

I got this bass on SDOTD and for half a price which is insane. I had issues with output jack but 5 stars are still there in my book. The sound is very powerful any way youbdial in the eq which is very responsive. Neck is a bit bulky but still wihin comfortable when playing. Out of box bass was perfectly set up, all I had to do is tune it and off we go. For some reason guitar that Ibgot had stereo output jack but I called MF and they gave me a credit for a new one and it took me 5 minutes to install it in place. I was very impressed with the quality of this guitar, enough that I ordered one with rosewood fretboard and tri color sunburst. Still waiting on that one but if it is any close to the set up of my red Ill be pleased enough. One note is that red color on the pic here is not the same one you will get but that does not bother me.
Very well invested money on this guitar.8

It is a Squier. I was figuring it would be a good throw around, not worry about it bass. My image of Squier is that of an old Lotus bass. This was anything but that. I purchased this on the SDOTD and was pleased with the price. When it arrived I was very impressed. It sounds great, looks great, and feels great. Very please with my purchase.

Really happy with this bass. I tried the Modern Player Dimension bass and was really unhappy with the tone choices of the the three way switch, but the onboard EQ on this one allows for a great range of tone. The high mass bridge is nice as well. I'm really happy to add this one to my collection

At retail price it's a bargain. At the SDOTD price, it's a steal. This is a very nice instrument, end-to-end.
