Quality issues; tone and feel definitely not a Fender

Comments about Squier Deluxe Dimension Bass V Maple Fingerboard Five-String Electric Bass Guitar:

Very disappointed with this instrument. Indonesian made and maybe I just got a bad one. Although the neck was fairly straight, the small frets were poorly seated and not level, resulting in severe fret buzz that could not be adjusted out. The nut had an annoying rattle and would have needed to be reworked. The low B string just flopped around and could not be brought into tune. Intonation was off 10+ cents on several of the strings but at least there was enough adjustment left on the saddles to correct it. The pickup is not adjustable and the tone is hard to describe -- neither a P nor J sound -- not a Fender. Maybe some flatwounds or tapewounds would give it some tonal character? Not playable out of the box and to make it so would require more than a professional setup . MF is always great on returns and this one is going back.

Comments about Squier Deluxe Dimension Bass V Maple Fingerboard Five-String Electric Bass Guitar:

Picked this up the other day as a SDOTD for a ridiculously low price, but it would have still been a good deal at full price. Only issues I have are just nitpicks; the setup outta the box was horrendous, a flaw in the finish at the neck joint that no one will ever notice but me, and one of the bridge saddle screws was missing, but I found it in the packaging so obviously it just worked itself loose in transit. The only *real* complaint I have is that the bridge saddles screws require such a tiny allen wrench for adjustment. I actually had to file down one end of my smallest allen wrench to get it to fit. Woulda been nice if it had accepted a more standard size. But that's literally the worst thing I can find to say about it. So after a quick setup I've got 'er dialed in just great and playing like a much more expensive instrument. Kudos to MF for a killer deal and fast shipping as usual.

Comments about Squier Deluxe Dimension Bass V Maple Fingerboard Five-String Electric Bass Guitar:

I actually got mine back in November of 2015, and never wrote a review for it.
Was quite playable from the get go, but I always do a complete set up and re-string anyway. So now it's fabulous and affordable.
I'm an American Standard guy usually, but this looked worth trying..., go for it!

Comments about Squier Deluxe Dimension Bass V Maple Fingerboard Five-String Electric Bass Guitar:

I've bought a lot of Squiers and they do occasionally need a setup, but this bass was ready to go right out of the box with low action and no fret buzz. I didn't even have to adjust the truss rod, just tuned up and started playing. Overall the build quality is very good and though I'm not a huge fan of red, the transparent crimson finish looks really nice. I might eventually replace the nut since its made of cheap plastic, but they did a good job cutting it so I can't really complain. The bass is on the heavy side but its similar to other 5-string models I've played. The pickup sounds good and the controls knobs all turn smoothly. I also love how easy it is to change the 9V battery, no screwdriver needed unlike a with lot of other active basses.

I bought this as a SDOTD so i couldn't pass up the price. I would recommend this to a four string player who is considering a five string. This guitar is well worth the money and if you find a five string is not for you then you haven't made a huge investment.

Comments about Squier Deluxe Dimension Bass V Maple Fingerboard Five-String Electric Bass Guitar:

I already had the 4 string version of this bass and was very impressed with the quality. I had owned a Fender Modern Player briefly, but wasn't happy with the neck or the pickup tones. The Squier Dimension basses are a much better fit for me.

The range of tones from the pickup and 3 band eq is very broad.
