More low-end sound, more high-end looks at a mid-range price.
The Traben Chaos Core 4 is an electric bass that ups the ante on beautifully crafted, wonderfully sounding affordable basses. Great lines, bodacious curves, eye-catching woodgrain finishes, and the combination of exotic woods with excellent electronics make Traben Chaos series basses worth every penny. The 4-string Chaos Core 4 is made of paulownia (originally a Chinese tree) and is topped with burled maple or quilt maple. Either way, the Core 4 makes for a lightweight bass that appeals both aesthetically and sonically. To capture your fingerwork, the Chaos Core 4 bass has an Aguilar OBP-3 pre-amp, 3-band EQ, volume. a 5-way switch, and 2 Rockfield humbucker pickups. All the hardware is black and coordinates nicely with the wood grain.

While it doesn't stand out visually as much as the array or phoenix, don't understimate this bass. The sound out of the core is the most versitile I've heard. I own a Schecter Deluxe 5 & ESP F104, & the Chaos Core has become my favorite. I can create the tones from John Morton to Cliff Burton w/o the use of pedals. The pickup selection creates veratility that has eliminated the need to switch basses while trying to play different songs & styles. If you get a chance to try it out before buying it, definitely don't miss that opportunity.
I recently bought this bass in the Whiskey Burl finish, it is beautiful. First impression straight out of the box, I was disappointed in the tuning pegs, controls and strap pins being made out of plastic but it does make the bass lighter so it's a trade off. Overall, this bass has amazing tone range and when hooked up to my Line 6 LowDown amp I never get bored playing it.
Sounds great, looks great, super light, super versitile. Stays in tune. The only thing more that I desire is a sweepable mid on the eq but it's very effective as is. The frets are finished well and it is set up to play right out of the box. Outstanding!
