Neck-thru construction.

There are many things that make a Warwick bass special; the woods, the pickups, the body contours, and of course, the sound. For many players, Warwick is the only name brand of bass that will do. Are you a Warwick bassist? The German Thumb Bass is a favorite of the Warwick designs, and this one is a prime example. It is a 5-string neck-thru bass with a wenge neck, bubinga body and the sophisticated electronics that have earned Warwick their stellar reputation for great sound.

Comments about Warwick German Thumb Neck-Thru 5-Strin Electric Bass:

It is truly a good bass. The playability was nice, neck was smooth, but in my opinion, it did sound a little dry to my ears. I played it through an Ampeg SVT CL. Then I played a Spector NS-5XL. Blew this thing out of the water. Still a good bass though.

Comments about Warwick German Thumb Neck-Thru 5-Strin Electric Bass:

This bass has a truly unique character so I can see why many people report having that "yes - I finally found it" type of reaction when first playing it and others not so much. The combinations of hard but breathable woods with the neck through design give this bass its characteristic growl, open attack and seemingly impossible sustain. The growl even extends well into the lows on the B string which is NOT typical. The active MEC pickups and 3 way pre-amp provide a rich blend and broad voice and lack the harsh bite on the high end which many players actually wish it had depending on your playing style. I tend to see this bass as geared more for a finger and/or pick versus slap style of play although I know many would probably feel differently. The pickups and electronics seems to miss the super bright tang on the high end which slap style players crave. The sound is rich and growly.

The woods are pretty amazing on this bass. A wenge neck is a great idea as the hardness improves the growl and sustain while allowing for body in the growl which maple doesn't quite provide. The bubinga pomelle body is a beautiful hardwood and has more impact on the tone I think because the design provides for more substantial total body coverage than the "wing" attachments and cosmetic top layer more typical of neck through designs. The neck is unbelievably strong, true and stable. I am impressed with the versatililty of the bridge system. The ability to adjust overall height, individual string height, string spacing, angle (and obviously tuning) provides the flexibility for setups on the super straight practically zero bow neck. I can't believe the buzz free, buttery, easy feel I can get with this bass. Really, really fun to play!

Warwick still seems unmatched in terms of the precision, quality and craftsmanship it is able to produce in a factory setting (in its German vs Asian factory.

        Highly recommend this bass
