GREAT sound. Simply incredible. I'm a gigging bass player, so the neck was a problem. It would constantly dive. I had to hold it up with my left hand while playing - not ideal at all. The horn is not long enough. Warwick should not make a thumb 6. The 4 and 5 strings don't seem to have this problem.Great recording bass. Not a good live bass.

First, the bass. It is common knowledge among bass players that, in general, Warwick's earlier basses were built to a higher standard than basses like the one for sale here. Furthermore, having owned a later 90s neck-through (not bolt-on, mind you) Thumb 6, I can honestly say that it was just an okay bass. I also owned a later 90s neck-though Thumb 5, which I though sounded better (it had MECs, whereas the 6 had Duncan Basslines). Versatility was definitely not a strong suit my Thumb 6. I would describe the sound as dark and compressed. Dialing in more treble tended to add unwanted noise. Perhaps a different preamp would have remedied this. Now, the price. I cannot believe what this bass is going for. Take it from someone who has owned a nicer iteration of this bass. It ain't worth it. If you have that kind of scratch lying around and you just have to have a Warwick Thumb, I'd recommend a nicer, older Warwick and putting the remainder of your cash in the bank for a rainy day (or perhaps a decent amp).

    Warwick is God!

    By BrutalBass

Comments about Warwick Thumb 6-String Bass Guitar:

This Bass is the best bass I have ever played. It sounds so heavy and dark, yet at the same time can get nice and bright. I've played Musicmans, Ibanez, Fender, Tobias all of them and I will Always Pick up a warwick anyday. No matter how much they cost. It's worth it to spend alot on this bass then waste money on others that dont sound as good. BUY THE BASS!P.S. drop me a line if you want to discuss this or other basses.

    Only second to Fender

Comments about Warwick Thumb 6-String Bass Guitar:

I have played many warwicks and if you want a six-string, this one is perfect. The only drawback to this and most Warwicks are their price, but they are like Fenders with twice the personality and the roar of a lion.

Comments about Warwick Thumb 6-String Bass Guitar:

These things are great to play, but they're so expensive I can't even deal with it. I've never spent so much on a bass and don't intend to. If you can buy a gorgeous Ibanez BTB or SR [I highly recommend any model of either] instead, you definitely should.

The Best Bass You Can Buy

    By Anonymous

Comments about Warwick Thumb 6-String Bass Guitar:

If you're serious about playing the bass and you're tired of average sound and less than average equipment, then this bass is for you. I bought mine two years ago and I've been happy ever since. This bass is worth every penny. The wide variety of sounds this bass can create, mixed with a brand new set of strings, will continually blow your mind. Whenever I go into music shops now, I really don't have much of a desire to pick up any basses, nothing else is in the same world. The six string model is pretty heavy since it's solid ovankol wood; however, after a couple months I adjusted to the weight and now I like the solid feel. Get this bass.

Comments about Warwick Thumb 6-String Bass Guitar:

I enjoy playing the warwick because it gives me full access to all the frets, neck feels really comfortable it has great tone it has that special low growl which is needed especially when playing gospel music I think this bass is one of the best sounding bass around. I feel really comfortable slapping as well as walking this bass.

    Well worth the money

    By Luchesi

Comments about Warwick Thumb 6-String Bass Guitar:

Don't let anyone tell you that such a bass of this magnitude is too expensive: it is worth every single penny and then some. If you're going to be a serious bass player, be prepared to sacrifice some coin. I suggest this bass to any serious six-string player, as well as the four-strings to the four-stringers and the fives to the fivers. Any REALLY serious bassist owns at least one Warwick, and this one is as good as any other of it's brand name.

    acquired taste

    By Superduperman

Comments about Warwick Thumb 6-String Bass Guitar:

This is an incredible bass (as all Warwicks are). The pickup placement makes for a gritty, bright tone. I personally like a warm neck pickup sound sometimes. Soloing the bridge pickup gives the same tone as any other active j bridge pickup, tight and bright. Soloing the other pickup gives more of an "in-between" tone, not overly bright, and not terribly warm either. I found I could get a gritty, almost fretless-esque tone. If you like a warmer tone, I suggest the Corvette.
