Living in the "boonies" of Alaska I really don't have easy access to a teacher and wanted to try a book rather than a DVD or computer program as its easier for this adult beginner to use at the piano. I read some reviews of this series indicating that it uses some outdated techniques but I wouldn't know the difference. Anyway, I'm half way through the book and am making rapid progress. I'm lucky enough be able to devote a couple hours a day to practice and between the book and DVD I think I might just be able to teach myself enough piano to be happy.
The series combines therory, technique, and songs in one volume so you don't have to go back and forth between books and the excercises flow quite well. I've also purchased books two and three and look forward to continued progress.
