Disappointed at so Little TAB in a TAB Songbook

Comments about Alfred The Big Easy Mandolin TAB Songbook:

I bought this book expecting it to be as advertised: a mandolin tablature songbook. I was severely disappointed. Most songs in the book have tablature for only an opening riff or an interlude, and chording for the rest of the song. Some songs lack even that. For example: Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville has just intro and outro. The Rolling Stone's Paint it Black has tablature throughout, and Van Morrison's Moondance has no tablature at all. While I appreciate the chording for accompaniment, and having standard notation for the entire song, it would be nice to have the melody lines in tab format as one would expect in a "Mandolin TAB Songbook."

The book does have a good range of songs and styles, which is the book's only saving grace, for those who read notation. (I do, but my fingers haven't made the jump from trumpet to mandolin yet... thus tablature is my bridge.)
This is supposed to be a tablature book. Most song have an opening riff in tablature, and then simply chords the rest of the way. If this were listed as a chord book, I'd be happy.
Standard glue-bound book. Thick paper that survived a mild soaking (one corner of the shipping box leaked) and dried without becoming a solid clump. The cover adhered to the first and last page, not along the spine. Books bound like this often lose their covers quickly, and will come off soon.

Whether a song has partial or full tablature is pretty inconsistent.
Appropriately priced for what it is - a 200 page book of notes & lyrics.

Comments about Alfred The Big Easy Mandolin TAB Songbook:

Some song choices are very "challenging" for mandolin chords alone. I think more tabs would've been more helpful.

Comments about Alfred The Big Easy Mandolin TAB Songbook:

I knew what this book was from research I did before buying so I am not disappointed. Like another reviewer said, the tab is very spotty and inconsistent. Some is very hard. Some is very easy. A good bit is not there at all. But, if you check the song list you will see that all the other Alfred pop music mandolin books are contained in this one. It has extra songs too. So, it is a good buy for a different take on music for mandolin.
