Guitar Rigs meticulously examines the tonal properties of each piece of equipment as each new item or variable is introduced. So not only do the book and CD break down and analyze the sonic qualities, for example, of a Fender Stratocaster plugged into a Fuzz Face pedal and played through a Marshall JTM45 amplifier, they also demonstrate how the resultant tone changes if you substitute a Les Paul for the Strat, or an Ibanez Tube Screamer for the Fuzz Face pedal, or an open-backed 4x10 speaker cabinet for the Marshall's closed-back 4x12.
