A demo of techniques - not instructional

Comments about Berklee Press Accelerate Your Keyboard Playing (DVD):

I have been a college level teacher for some years, and I mention that only so that you might 'calibrate' my evaluation. This DVD is a series of demonstrations by an expert keyboard player. It is not an effective teaching aid. The demos are improvisations and done at a fast pace that is not conducive to learning by watching and listening. No exercises are repeated nor are they individually explained. There is minimal monologue that introduces sets of demonstrations but no actual teaching exhibited. Far more noteworthy than this are the 'emedia' products that are actual lessons and are interactive and offer variable playing speeds and actually grade your progress through the USB/MIDI interface. I refer to the emedia Piano and Keyboard Method products. I can not give this product a positive review. If you can learn by watching complex playing without any actual lessons or a description of what is being performed, then this may work for you. Otherwise it is disappointing.
