Comments about Carl Fischer The Guitar Grimoire - Scales & Modes:

It only briefly( and vaguely) explained modes, leaving much unexplained. The scales are not written with the name of the note but just dots telling you what fret to play on, so if you dont use E Standard your out of luck. You could just go to allguitarchords.com and find detailed diagrams of every scale in all 12 keys that are also tabbed out in multiple tunings so they are easy to learn. All in all i regret buying this book.

Comments about Carl Fischer The Guitar Grimoire - Scales & Modes:

I am a professional Musician, and have had many formal classroom hours of training in music theory. However, I would not say I am a theory expert. I am a trombone player, and I wanted to take my hobby guitar playing to the next level. This book is perfect, because number one, it explains the theory behind scales and modes in simple terms, so someone without any knowledge of music theory can grasp the ideas about intervals, scales, and modes. Scales are the building blocks to improvisation! The more you know, the more outside of the box you can go! This book has even enhanced my Trombone soloing, because it has every scales you can possibly think of. If you want to take your playing to the next level, regardless of your ability level, then buy this right now!
