Comments about Cherry Lane Johnny Winter Legendary Licks Slide Guitar DVD:

This is just what I needed. I've been playing blues and rock for a long time but never learned slide. Lately I get strong wrist pain when I play too long. Before I end up with permanent CTS I thought learning slide guitar would be less stressful. Now i'm doing it, it is quite painless and fun. I can mix it up and play much longer. Al Eck breaks the licks down very well. It's easy to follow along. A beginner could pick it up and yet it's not too basic for experienced players. It's the best break down I've seen yet. You move right along note for note. However I remember licks better when I can reference and practice TAB for awhile first. This doesn't have a book, TAB or anything written. So I downloaded and printed out some blank TAB sheets. It was easier than I expected to fill them in as Al breaks it down. Now I'm saving some of my own jammin' ideas too. Johnny talks about his gear set up at the end of the dvd and it helps but it'd be nice if there were some tips about setting up your ax and amp. It took awhile to get a sound I could live with. It'll be more money to get the sound I want but I'm having fun for now. The front of the dvd has some great vidio to play along with or jam. I love it. Johnny's gone but his music lives on. Thank you Johnny, I always loved your music.

Finally found Song Teaching that works for me !

from Penn.

Comments about Cherry Lane Johnny Winter Legendary Licks Slide Guitar DVD:

It's probably just me, but i have trouble with just TAB books/sheets for working out songs. the same w. TAB & CD. the longer the piece the less it seems to fit in my Brain. some DVD's are better but i still run into the problem of which RH - string/finger w. which Left Hand finger/string. When i'm Jaming w. buddies it's usually pretty easy to 'get it' - except if we're under the gun re - time. BUT THESE CHERRY LANE DVDS ARE GREAT - NOTE FOR NOTE IN SMALL BIT-SIZED CHUNCKS, PLAY FAST SLOW, BROKE DOWN NOTE-FOR-NOTE, THEN PLAYED SLOW AND FAST AGAIN ! PIWCED TOGETHER AGAIN. tHIS jOHNNY wINTER dvd by AL EK IS SUPERB ! IT'S LIKE THE OLD CASSETTE TAPE SERIES, NOTE-FOR-NOTE BUT WITH THE ADDITION OF ACTUALLY SEEING THE LEFT AND RIGHT HAND POSITIONS. a little pricey but easily the easiest way i've been taught-learned any involved guitar piece. I'm A Cherry Lane, Al Ek fan from now on.IT REALLY WORKS FOR HOW MY BRAIN-HAND CONECTION IS WIRED.
