The great Baroque master composer Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) wrote music for every combination of instruments and voices. His simplest and purest work are four-part chorale compositions and settings, so perfectly constructed that they evoke meditative spirituality. Figured bass was a Baroque system of notating harmony. In addition 371 chorales, this collection includes 69 melodies with figured bass. This classic Schirmer edition, edited by Albert Riemenschneider, has sold over 1,000,000 copies since its release in the early 20th century. Primarily for keyboard, the chorales can also be played by other instruments.

Comments about G. Schirmer 371 Harmonized Chorales & 69 Chorale Melodies with Figured Bass By Bach:
I would recommend this book to anyone that loves Bach and that enjoys this Chorale format. Also its a great teaching tool for young singers to learn to sight sing which is why I purchased the book and require others to do so that take lessons from me.
The book comes in a very sturdy casing and although the notes are a little small the paper is of high quality and will last for a long time.
I'm a vocal instructor that uses these chorales to teach sigh singing! INCREDIBLE works short but sweet and challenging.
The Book came in excellent condition and was packaged very well.
Great Value for my private studio to teach young singers to sight sing.
