The topics covered can easily allow a complete novice to get up to the level of competent player in about 6-8 months, depending on the individual. Inside of the first month, you will learn to read music in first position, and you'll continuously learn music theory. At about the half-way through point, you'll learn finger-picking techniques, then move on through different genres. I had several years of lessons and studied music seriously for 2 years, and this really solidifies a lot of concepts for me and very clearly explains the basics which I never fully grasped. What's also nice is that there are additional bonus videos which explain some of the Gibson history and manufacturing techniques, so that as you learn to play you get exposure to some other guitar knowledge as well. All in all, for the money, it's the best organized and produced video training tool I've seen in over 20 years of playing. I bought this to help me become a better teacher, and I will gladly recommend it to anyone I teach!

Love the cd's that are in sleeved pockets and the box is felt lined like a good guitar box comes with extra sleeves for added cd's the book has all the lessons and there is a resource area online so much to offer for the price excellent program.
I've tried so many diferent types of learning to play guitar books and havent gotten as far as I could. But Gidsons learn and master guitar with Steve Krentz is fantastic I am actually learning and going farther than I've ever been its an excellent course and I recommend it to anyone that is serious about learning guitar from the bottom up to the top, Excellent course..

Im only on the second lesson but I have already learned more then with my 6 months of lessons with my teacher. Lots of explanations, and practices to get you up and going. I love it. I would recommend this to anyone that is serious about learning guitar.

I have been playing guitar for over 40 years on and off. My guitar playing plateaued long ago after writing my own songs. I say writing but they are just in my head. I can teach them to you but I can't tell you about the music. This course is teaching me to tell about the music. I always wanted to know how to read music. After just a few weeks I can sight read for the first, third, fifth and seventh position. Of course I extrapolate on the ideas I am taught because despite starting at the beginning I am still an advanced player. This course lends itself well to the advanced player.
This course offers an excellent musical education. Ive been playing for more than 40 years and am only now learning to read music. This course is teaching an old dog some new tricks!
This course covers it all. It covers all of the knowlege needed to read and understand music.
The course gives you a priceless ability to read and understand music. I can't begin to tell you how much it means to be able to look at a piece of music and know what it's telling.

Gibson's Learn & Master Guitar with Steve Krenz. This is an exceptionally easy learning system for me. I tried the classroom route at the community college, and while did pick up some fundamentals, I really didn't progress well with the guitar playing. This course has changed all of that. I can work at my own speed, I can go back and review the DVD's, if necessary and the lesson book provides the exercises I need to gain proficiency. The only drawback I have noticed, so far, (I'm only on lesson 2) is a printing/editing error on page 12. On exercise 3, at the bottom of the page, the tabulation in my book is incorrect to the musical notes that they accompany. Since I was able to read music a little bit, this jumped out at me. A printed errata sheet or a new printed addition would be good for future customers.
